Since weeks I am unable to use Spotify on my Onkyo reciever (709). The issue is that I can login, but all my playlists are empty.
In the past a (some) factory reset(s) helped, but not anymore. There seem to be multiple people with this problem as can be read on:

I contacted Onkyo support some time ago and they pointed to Spotify (although I think the problem is in the Onkyo).
Recently the Onlyo support does not even respond anymore.
Perhaps someone at Spotify can poke the Onkyo people?

Hello, I have spotifiy premium and listen it on my onkyo tx-8050. I just change all my playlists (like blues, grunge, etc). In every playlist I make some files with the name of the singer. On the pc, spotify lists are correct, but on the onkyo, it shows the lists, but some of them are empty or mix up...what can i do to have the same playlists shows on the pc??? Onkyo TX-NR609 does not work any more. I can see my Playlists, but when i select them they are "Empty"
Login to my Premium Account works, but nothing more than that.

Unfortunately my Onkyo TX-616 shows login error all the time (using the receiver built-in app). When I finally login I can review all playlists and star the tracks but any streaming try results in fail. Even the track time counter is not starting. When using my account from PC all works fine.
I have bought a Onkyo TX-RZ900, was looking forward to Spotify, but it doesnt even ask me for a login.
The other apps, pandora and so on, ask for logins. Anyone was able to get into Spotify with this receiver ?
I have spotify premium, on the pS4 it works like a charm, but I dont want to always have the PS4 on, thats why I bought the Onkyo (maybe a mistake....)

I have Onkyo TX-NR509 and I have exactly the same problem. It has started a few days ago and I did not find a solution so far.
I am not sure if anything has been recently changed in the service. It was working perfectly until now.
Also very disappointed.

I just recive mail from Onkyo support:
We are very sorry to hear that you have a Problem with Spotify together with Onkyo.
We know about this problem and already work on an solution.
It looks like Spotify changed the IP Adress.

Yes, I have the same problem since the end of last week. My tx-8050 can connect to spotify (Belgium), although nothing can be streamed or looked up. So my thought was indeed a change of IP address by Spotify.
Hopefully we see a quick fix!

I have opened a Service Request @Onkyo Austria.
Spotify has changed something, thats confirmed. They (=Onkyo) know the Problem.
They promised they are working on the Problem.
Maybe you can also open a Service Request - when there are more unsatisfied Customers they get a little more Pressure 😉
