Podcast episodes starting 10 seconds from the end when relistening

Podcast episodes starting 10 seconds from the end when relistening

My daughter likes to listen to kids podcasts before bed, and often listens to them multiple times. Recently when she listens to an episode she has previously finished, they start 10 seconds from the end and then skips to the next episode (which is also 10 seconds from the end!) It's really annoying and didn't used to be this way (they used to pick up part way through if she didn't finish it, or from the beginning if she had previously listened to the whole episode)

Hey folks,

Thanks you for reporting this!
We've tested the described behaviour and were able to reproduce the issue. On our ends it occurs with this specific podcast, when being played through a Connect speaker, regardless of where the initial playback has been started from (desktop app/ mobile).

We'll keep you posted and, while we're looking into this, keep in mind that rewinding the podcast episode to its start will still play the full episode ๐Ÿ™‚
Cheers!

What's the plan to fix this spotify?? We pay premium for this and it's extremely frustrating

We are also having this issue while using the Spotify app on our television.

I just want to add that I am experiencing the same issue when playing a queue of previously finished podcast episodes over a connected device. I would also like to note that I have been experiencing this problem for several years, so it's not new. I assumed it was something to with the incredibly buggy Spotify Alexa skill (which myself and others have been reporting for years to no avail), but it seems it occurs with any connected speaker/device. It's nice to see that Spotify is finally looking into this issue and not just sticking to the usual advice to update the app, clear cache, uninstall/reinstall Spotify, etc. which is consistently ineffective.

For the last two weeks when I stream a playlist it only plays the last ten seconds of every episode. It finishes and then when it switches it immediately goes into the last ten seconds.

I play the podcast from my phone (pixel ๐Ÿ˜Ž to my Google mini. I have a premium paid plan. I am in Canada

Also getting this issue. Will also get the issue of episodes "skipping" and repeating the same line or two over and over. This has been going on for a few weeks now. I thought it was a Google home issue on my end, glad to know it's a communication between the two issue not unique to me. Hoping this gets solved quickly so my kid's bedtime doesn't keep getting prolonged with episodes not making sense.

I am having this same issue too - itโ€™s on a different podcast but Iโ€™m playing through Alex / echo dot.  Writing in hoping when a solution is posted Iโ€™ll be notified as really need a working solution for bedtime stories.  To date weโ€™ve been manually rewinding to the start of the podcast episode but it defeats the purpose of having an automated podcast.

Were having the same issue. It's incredibly frustrating and I thought this was just a Disney plus issue (same thing happens when you rewatch shows there).

Making our bedtimes annoying.

Rewinding the podcast does not work. The episode just skips over and over from where I rewind it to. Plus, my kid listens via Google to fall asleep while I cast from another room on my phone. I'm supposed to watch Spotify and rewind every time am episode ends. That's absurd.

Same here! More than 2 weeks with this issue, i've tried everything...cache cleaning, reinstalling, unlinking alexa skill... and nothing.

Spotify for sure needs to fix this. BUT in the meantime, I (another desperate parent in the same situation) have found a temporary workaround. When I add the playlist to the โ€œQueue,โ€ the problem miraculously stops. Hereโ€™s hoping it works for all of you (and doesnโ€™t stop working with the next Spotify update)

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the info you've sent so far.

Just to confirm, are you still experiencing this? If so, we suggest that you perform a clean reinstall on your affected devices by following these steps.

We'll be waiting for your replies.

Am I the only desperate parent in this thread who has stopped using Spotify for this use case? We had to move on and find alternatives for bedtime!

This started working again for me, as of a few nights ago. I have used it nightly for the past several evenings with no problems.
