My Issue

On both the desktop app and my phone app my podcast queue is not working right. When I play an episode from oldest to newest it puts a handful of random episodes posted after the one I'm listening to in the queue, and it seems to be consistently less than 10 episodes. When I play an episode from newest to oldest there is a lot of episodes in the queue in order, but it skips many episodes. When I play it longest to shortest or shortest to longest there seems to be no issue. I have done a clean reinstall of both apps and nothing has changed. This issue does not happen on the web version of Spotify, just the apps. Both apps are updated fully. Music is not impacted.

Hey there,

Thanks for the replies.

If you are still experiencing this issue, we'd need the brand/model and operating system of the device you're experiencing this on and the exact Spotify version you're using. Make sure you've updated to the latest one as well. We can then relay the info to our tech team.

Keep us posted,

Cheers!

Hi,

I know this is an old issue but I have been experiencing it today and found a fix of sorts.

It turns out that if you have 'Shuffle' enabled for your music it will also shuffle your podcast episodes but the shuffle button doesn't show when playing a podcast. Go to any song, play it for a second and turn shuffle off, then go back to your podcast and the queue should be in order.

SPOTIFY MODERATOR before you send me an annoying request to give you more details so you can work out if this is a user error issue IT ISN'T. It's a Spotify issue and the fix is simple. Put the shuffle button on the Podcast interface so people can turn it off. There are enough reports on threads on this subject for you to know that multiple people are experiencing this across multiple devices and multiple podcasts at the same time. Stop asking stupid questions and just fix your platform.

My Question or Issue

Apologies if this is already under discussion - I tried to find it but cant.
When listening to podcasts, if I select the latest episode to listen to then the play queue is immediately filled with other episodes. This is OK.
However those episodes do not appear to be in date order and indeed some appear to be already marked as finished. This is not as good.
I have looked and can't find any setting that controls this behaviour but it's very irritating as you can be listening to the latest episode of a podcast then as it finishes the next to be played is seemingly randomly selected and is, quite probably, one you have already heard.
I would have though the default behaviour would be to add unfinished episodes in reverse date order so that the previous latest un-played episode is next in the queue but this doesn't seem to be the case.
Or am I missing something?

Thanks for the reply but I don't have shuffle enabled and yet still experience the problem with random podcast episodes being inserted into the queue.
