Export data email link not working

Export data email link not working

Today I requested to download my account data (both Account data and Extended streaming history). I received an email message asking to click to confirm my request export the data.

 

The problem is that the confirmation link is broken. It does not resolve to anything. Both browsers I have tried show the same error: ERR_ADDRESS_INVALID. It appears to be an error in the domain name resolution, a techical issue from Spotify's end.

 

I tried resending another email. I got it, clicked again in that second link. Same result.

Is anybody else experiencing this issue? I'd like to export my data account and I can't do it. Any way to tell someone from the Spofity dev team or QA team? Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Joan!

 

You were absolutely right. I tried opening the link from another network (my phone using cellular data) and it worked. The problem was a DNS server in my LAN was blocking the `wl.spotify.com` domain. The solution was simply to whitelist that domain. I learned something new!

 

I finally confirmed my request to the data download. Now I have to wait a few days for the data to be ready. If I have trouble, I'll reach out again. Although I suspect everything will work smoothly.

Thanks for reaching out. We've moved your post out to be a separate thread so we can better assist you.

 

By all metrics the download should be working, so let's get to the bottom of why the link isn't opening correctly on your end. Besides different browsers, could you also try opening the same link on different devices and different networks? Try using both different Wi-Fi networks and mobile data. If you use a VPN of any kind, disable it as it could be interfering with server communication.
