Samsung app not keeping the TV awake while playing

Dear Spotify, 

There is an issue with the Spotify App on new Samsung TV's. After 2 minutes the TV screen will go into sleep mode, the music will continue to play but the screen will turn off. This is not a settings issue with the TV. 

Having spoken to Samsung, the issue is that the Spotify App isn't telling the TV that media is playing. The screen sleep mode is an internal setting that cannot be adjusted on new Samsung TV's. 

Spotify is the only app that does this. There are no permissions that will fix this. An App update is required from Spotify to fix.

We've forwarded the info on the behavior you're describing about sleep mode to the relevant team here at Spotify, however, we can't confirm when it will be addressed. In the meantime, we recommend reaching out to Samsung for any help with the device (if you haven't already), as well as keeping both the app and the TV's software up-to-date.

I have had my samsung tv for 3 years and never had the issue before. Just started maybe a month ago and literally can not listen so spotify anymore. So annoying.

I have an S90D and this is still an issue, for some reason the TV will turn dark as if it were on a timer when music plays, I don't know how to change this and made sure battery saving/timers were off.

From the comments this have been over a year. I have a new S90F and app goes to screensaver, this is clearly an app issue.  I have even had a video podcast on spotify and part of the way through it even went to screensaver midway into the cast.  Please fix  the spotify app to prevent screensaver from turning on.  I use spotify a high percentage of the time so this is disappointing.  Since I work in IT and build apps, this should not be a difficult fix.
