Search by track URLs

Search by track URLs

The idea is commonplace across most popular content sites. Simply input the url of a track in the search bar to search it

Why not just click the link?

Clicking the link skips the song currently being played and sometimes you just want to queue a song. This is useful when you get a Spotify track link on a website that doesn't support embeds so you're not able to view the track name.

This feature also makes intuitive sense as it's already implemented on other websites

Hey @sloth-ontabasco,

Thanks for posting in the Community and welcome.

We hope you don't mind us moving your post out of the ideas section to one of our Help boards as it fits better here.

That being said, we'd like you to know that it's already possible to search for a song within the app using its URL. To do it, you just need to insert the link on the search bar and hit enter/search.

It's important to mention that, if you don't hit enter on your keyboard or search on your mobile device keyboard, the app is not going to search for the song. If you just paste the link, you'll see an error in which the app tells you there are no results found with that name. Hitting enter should redirect you to the song's position on its album, and it'll be highlighted:

On the mobile app it should look like this:

This is possible on the desktop app, web player and the app on mobile devices as well. If you're having inconveniences with this, please let us know and send us a full description of what's happening on your side.

If the idea you have in mind is different from what we explained above, feel free to post it again, but make sure you follow our Idea Exchange Guidelines. Remember: the more detailed your feature request is, the better. It’s easier for other users to know what you’re suggesting, so they can add their support and feedback.

We hope you found this helpful. We're always here to help.
