Song Library as a newbie

Song Library as a newbie

Ok,  I am a newbie to spotify coming from Pandora and VERY briefly Iheart radio. I have been in contact with @spotifycares trying to figure out how to do things in a way I am familiar with and need more help then 144 characters can offer.

On Pandora you type in an artist or song, and it creates a custom station based on that artist/song. It then plays music similar to that as well as other stuff by that artist. If you like the song you hit thumbs up and it add's the song to your station. If you don't like it you hit thumbs down and it removes it. When you find a new artist you like you can edit the station to "add variety" and it will start incorperating music from the new artist and other similar stuff into your existing station.

I understand this is not really possible with Spotify currently but @spotifycares mentioned that we can "save" a song, artist, or album to our library and play based off that. This leads me to my question.

If I add a song, for example, Halestorm - I like it heavy, to my library and hit play. Will Spotify play stuff similar to that? Lets say, Theory of a deadman - lowlife? If so when I go and hit "save" to add it to my library will my library auto update and play music similar to both artists? If I then go and add a country song to my library will it suggest both rock artists and country artists while playing off my library or would I have to constantly keep stoping the music and restarting it to get it to update?

@Smeejo330 Welcome to the band! Spotify does have the "Radio" option that will take an artist or song and play tracks similar to that artist/song. There are also thumbs up/down options in that portion of the app to further customize your listening. If you are a Premium subscriber the song library will only play reccomended tracks based on your listening if: you have that option turned on in settings and your playlist has played through completely. If you are a free user, the app will play reccomended tracks based on your listening.

Hope that helps. Happy listening! 🙂

you don't have to use the radio feature. You can create several playlists. In the settings is a feature called AutoPlay. Activated it will play similar artists and tracks when the last song of your playlist has been played. If you add new songs to that playlist AutoPlay will begin to play songs similar to every song included in your playlist. Found some great songs with that and the playing never stops.

Keep on listening to hard n heavy music. I wouldn't say that Halestorm is hard music, I prefer Manegarm and Vader \m/
