Song Queue and Shuffle not working

The Issue

Whenever I select a new song in a playlist, the queue do not reshuffle.

I tried a clean install, flush dns, cleaning cache, different networks, different devices and it seems that the problem is linked to my account since when creating a new account the problem does not happen. The Spotify Web Version has the same problem.

Edit: I posted (link to the post) about bringing this feature back in the Ideas Board and I encourage people that are having this problem to vote there so it becomes more relevant.

We can confirm this is one of the changes we recently made. Now, you can reorder the queue by turning Shuffle off and on again. At Spotify, we're always testing new improvements and features to give our users a better experience. i noticed this feature was changed; when playing on a playlist and clicking the play button on a song inside the same playlist, spotify used to change the next from list. this means that if you saw it and didn't like the list, you could just click play on another song and then your current one. now, it keeps it just like it does the queue, so if you play another song it does not change.
as a person who only keeps one mega playlist, it was very useful to be able to quickly change the Next From list if i didn't want the next ones that the shuffle lined up, as well as to allow the songs that have already played be able to play again.
I am asking for either a complete rollback of that, or a setting that would allow people to choose.

This is such a non answer. It would be acceptable if we didn’t have to shuffle through the “smart shuffle” where Spotify tries to highlight whatever bs the record labels are trying to push through, but even after that, shuffle *still* doesn’t work. I’m 90% certain because I started a “jam” that Spotify is stuck in whatever queue it started, and days after, I can’t get it to un-stick. I’ve done everything your “solution” said to do and it hasn’t changed at all.

Hi, I'm a premium user and recently there's a bug or whatever happening on my redmi note 8: I select a song from my playlist with the shuffle button on and it gives me a queue, but if I select other song from the same playlist it keeps the same queue, it doesn't shuffle again. It only shuffles if I keep deactivating and activating the shuffle button after selecting the song. It had never happened before recently and it's pretty annoying.

Has anyone been in this situation before? And yes, I've already cleaned cache, it didn't make a difference.

Yes I have it's a new feature that Spotify did and it sucks the only solution is to turn shuffle off and on

My Question or Issue

For the past month or two I've been having an issue with my playlists not reshuffling. For as long as I've used Spotify, manually selecting a song has reshuffled playback. All of a sudden, it's no longer doing that. To make matters worse, shuffle seems to get stuck on sequences of songs and after a while plays the exact same songs in the exact same order. I've also observed songs I've taken out of the shuffle queue reappearing at random after a few songs. Toggling shuffle on and off doesn't work. Clearing the cache doesn't work. A clean reinstall didn't work. I'm starting to go a little bit insane.

With all due respect, Spotify Team, what's the point of having shuffle at all if it doesn't do one of the main things it's designed for?

This change is worse in my opinion. At least give us a toggle in the settings so we can automatically reshuffle after playing a new song. Having to press the reshuffle button 3 times is annoying.

No. This is now a bug, not a feature. This is a mess and makes me want to change players. The previous shuffle function would reset the playlist, as all other shuffle features work. This allowed to change the mood without having to manually babysit the queue. This change is terrible. Please change it back. I use Spotify for work and it's made my job so much more difficult. When choosing a song the queue not resetting and changing to match the vibe of the song means I have to manually work the queue because I can't even choose to clear the queue to get songs I don't want to play out of the upcoming songs. Since the shuffle change went away the songs don't flow well. I don't know if there was also a change to the logic of shuffle as well but it's gotten so much worse.

So, as I can see this is a recently added "Feature". This is not normal, expected behavior. My vote is to revert to the previous behavior. And while we're at it, we should add a button in settings to disable smart shuffle. Nothing ruins a perfectly curated playlist like an algorithmic suggestion I wasn't expecting.

Dubious, confusing, horrendous update. It is unintuitive and should be reverted to the previous version. Unironically trying to market this change as a feature without providing the option to use the previous version shows a clear disconnect between the "ideas" team and the actual users.

This is (in the most respectful way possible) one of the worst features. Removing the auto shuffle from pressing a song in my liked songs and now having to reshuffle every single time is such a pain. To have it as an option to turn this on or off would be far better.

make the que shuffle when I play a new song I DONT want the existing que if i wanted it i would add the songs manually just revert the update PLEASE the app IS UNUSABLE.

Came here looking if anyone was having the same issue, only to find out that the shuffle option was entirely modified.

I'm having an issue with this update and it is something like this:

Let's say I start listening any playlist in the morning and I play 20 songs then pause. Then, in the afternoon, I resume listening and finnish the 20th song but then the next song is not the 21 in the list, but some song 10 songs backwards. 

So, anytime I resume playing I go back and back indefinitely and I have to browse for the real "next song". Isn't this a bug or what? Anyone else with the same problem?

Although I like that now the order stays fixed and I won't listen the same songs again and again, I think that users should have the option to choose whether they want shuffle to work one way or another.

Absolutely horrendous change. Please revert it or at least give us the option to use the old version of shuffle. Whoever let this change go through has a serious misunderstanding of what the users actually like about the app.

really idiotic "feature" to add. no one was asking for this! i don't need to click multiple times through just to reshuffle (now that i also have to click through "smart" [lol] shuffle and its ensuing lag on my app) just to reshuffle my queue AFTER clicking a whole new song. spotify has never operated like this in the last 10+ years, why start now? seems like everyone hates it

terrible feature, bug, whatever this is. and swapping through shuffle modes doesn't do anything for me, i have to go to a different playlist and select a song from that instead and then go back to the one i want to actually listen to. if i'm on the last song of a playlist, i should be able to hit shuffle and it refresh my queue. all other players function this way. who is in charge of this garbage?
