My Question or Issue

I have been adding many songs to a single playlist for years and keep the ones I really like for my liked songs. Sometimes over time, certain songs will be taken off of Spotify which I am fully aware of and has been a normal occurrence.

However, I recently discovered that there was a song I added to both the big playlist as well as my liked songs. When looking for it, I was not able to locate it anywhere in my liked songs even after using the search feature. I looked it up to make sure it was still on Spotify and it is. This confused me as it was not showing up in my liked songs at all. I went back to see if it had also disappeared from the other playlist, but to my surprise it was still added. When I clicked on the song to see what playlists it said it had been added to, it says it was also in my liked songs.

So to clarify, there is a song that claims to be in my liked songs and another playlist however is not actually in my liked songs. Just to check I tried to re-add the song from the artist's page and I was indeed able to re-add it to BOTH playlists. I now have the same song added twice on the big playlist and only once on my liked songs despite having both duplicates added to both playlists.

This makes me quite confused and upset. I have almost no idea how many songs may have just been taken out of my liked songs (or other playlists) without going through extensive effort to look through every previous song I have saved. If anyone is curious, the first time I added the song was in July 2025 and the second time August 2025. My liked songs currently number 3,421 and the other playlist 4,020. If someone has any idea what could be going on here and if it can be fixed I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi there @zcfrater,

Thanks for reaching out!

This sounds quite odd. It's possible that at some point, some of the songs became unavailable. As much as we'd love to have all the music in the world on Spotify, the content may vary over time and between countries. This depends on permissions from rights holders.

Most of the time when content gets taken down from the platform, it will still remain in Your Library, but become greyed out and unplayable until the dispute is settled. On mobile, it's worth checking if you have Show unplayable songs toggled on in Settings > Content preferences as otherwise, unavailable songs will be hidden in your playlists which could explain why you might not be seeing them on your end.

Another thing to note is that sometimes, when the content is being added back on the platform, it is reuploaded under a new URI, meaning the old upload will still be unavailable and you'll need to add it to Your Library again. You can double-check if both songs within your playlists have different URIs to see if that's the case.

Let us know how it goes.

I will add songs to my playlists and after a while I will remember a song and realize I haven't heard it in a while and when I look it up, it's not in any of my playlists.

The songs aren't removed from Spotify, they just get removed from all of my playlists for some reason. Even when I add one song to multiple playlists.

I'm not using any filters and I can see that the song on the artists page isnt added to any playlists.

This is happened many times.

that offers no solution to the problem. I just found out one of my favorite albums was removed from liked songs and other playlists and I’ve noticed a few others I’ve caught.

How do we know what has been removed and put back? I can’t possibly go through every album I’ve liked and see if it’s still in my liked songs.

Thus is a major trust issue for Spotify and I won’t continue my subscription if this keeps happening.
