My Question or Issue
I'm having trouble since a week, I literally can't cast Spotify to my soundbar from ANY device. I have tried with my laptop, Desktop PC and several smartphones.
The soundbar works fine. I can cast my phone's audio with other apps.
I can see the soundbar listed in my network devices. When I choose to cast spotify to the built in Chromecast, it keeps attempting to connect, but it never endes. The same happens using smartphones and PC.
I have read many people complaining about the same issue. It's not fixed yet.
Already updated soundbar firmware, and cellphone spotify app (unistalled and clean installed).
Hey everyone,
Thanks for your patience while we looked into this issue.
We've taken this up with the team at LG as it's related to the particular devices and how they are set up to function. Because of this it's not something we can influence.
We recommend that you, if your setup allows it, change the digital sound out setting on your devices from Auto or Pass Through to another one. Improvements have also already been put into place and the firmware of some models has been updated to remedy this.
So make sure to update your firmware to the latest version available and if the issue persists - reach out to the Customer Support team of LG. You can contact them here.
Thanks!
Currently trying the latest Beta - 8.5.83.1075. Android 10, Galaxy S20 FE. Does not work. Have recently moved to the Beta channel to see if any fixes worked from those release. They do not.
I've done everything suggested above, nothing works. There's no error on the Spotify app, it spends a while "Connecting..." but then drops back to the Phone to play. On the soundbar you get a flash of "SPOTIFY" for a few seconds, which then goes away. Nothing plays.
As noted - you can add the soundbar to a group and this works - but is a poor workaround as most won't want to group speakers in different areas.
(also tried from Laptop/Win10 too)

I also tried all the steps Jeremy said we should try. Unfortunately, the same problem continues to arise. I went through the steps with an iPhone on the LG sk10y.
With spotify version 8.5.83.1426
Already tried clean reinstalling but no results with latest app version available for my phone today 8.5.83.1075.
Like other users, the soundbar flashes "SPOTIFY" for a few seconds and then nothing plays, it seems that the streaming fails...
No error message from the app.
Post it here (another big thread). Maybe Spotify will pick it up.
Looks like there is a widespread issue with Spotify and LG soundbars. I wonder how we can get in touch with Spotify to fix this. This is dragging a bit too long!
Same issue here. If I ask Google assistant to play music it says “playing Spotify on Soundbar”. “SPOTIFY” briefly flashes on the soundbar, before going back to “Wi-fi ” and no sound comes out. YouTube Music works fine.
There is no app to reinstall since it’s via Google home.
This started happening suddenly about a month ago.
I've contacted Spotify contact us and they kept asking me to reinstall my account and I was abruptly cut off after some time.
I also sent an email to LG support to see if they can help to solve this issue.
I think we need to try and bring up this issue to both parties instead of just posting here. Else we will not be able to get this resolved I feel.
Did the same. You kind of know when they close your ticket because you get customer satisfaction survey.
Still the same just a few seconds ago I saw spotify on the bar and it went back to wifi as all of the others experienced 😠 this is going on almost a month now and since tunein, Youtube and all the other music apps work flawlessly on the bar it has to be a spotify issue! I guess I just have to switch to tidal now since my yearly subscription is going to end in a few weeks
BTW I'm on version Spotify 8.5.83.1075 for Android
I tried to cast spotify to LG SK9Y from following devices:
iPhone 7
Galaxy S9
Win10 Laptop
all of them failed to cast and each of them had latest Spotify version.
