My Question or Issue

I've been casting from Spotify to VIZIO Crave 360 wireless speaker for several years without issues.

A couple months ago Spotify started failing when attempting to connect to the speaker.  Spotify successfully connects directly to Cromecast, Roku, FireTV devices, but not to VIZIO Crave 360.

At the same time I am able to cast to the same VIZIO Crave 360 speacker from if I use other music applications or if I cast audio from phone or computer using Google home.

This tells me that the issue not really with the VIZIO Cast 360.  Because I could cast to it from other apps on the same devices from which Spotify fails to connect.

It seems like the issue with the interface between Spotify and VIZIO Crave 360.

It seems like there is something that Spotify changed recently, which still allows it to work with devices from Google, Amazon, and Roku, fails to work with the device from VIZIO.

Can you give these steps a try?

 

1. Run a clean reinstall of the Spotify app by following these steps.

2. Restart your speaker.

3. Restart your router (unplug it from power for a few seconds).

 

Also, make sure that your speaker's firmware is up to date and that both devices are connected to the same network.

 

If the issue persists, let us know the Spotify version you're running so we can further look into this.

I tried the steps you suggested, but unfortunately they didn't help.
I believe I do have the latest version of the speaker's firmware.  I reached out to VIZIO for the same issue, and that was the first thing that they checked.
I reset the Wi-Fi router and the speaker several times.

As I mentioned in my original post, the issue is specific to Spotify connecting to the VIZIO Crave 360 speaker.  Other apps connect to the speaker without problems, and Spotify connects to other device  with Google Cast without problems.  It is Spotify to VIZIO Crave 360 that does not work.

I tried connecting Spotify from other devices that support Google Cast such as Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets, and PCs, but while I am able to cast Spotify Chromecast via Google Cast, and to Roku 3 or Fire TV via Spotify Connect, I cannot cast to VIZIO CRAVE 360 via Google Cast. 

BTW, how could I find the version of Spotify on Android device?

Thanks for the detailed info.

 

Here's how to check your Spotify version on Android:

  1. From the Home tab, tap the cog wheel in the top right-hand corner to open Settings.
  2. Scroll to the bottom. You'll find the version number under About > Version

Can you ask a fiend to log in with their account on one of your devices and the VIZIO Crave 360 and try casting music between the two. If that's not possible create a new free test account. This will give us more insight on whether the issue is account related.
