I'm on the premium plan, using the Windows desktop app version of Spotify. I'm trying to remove a song from my Discover Weekly playlist, since it's been there before and I didn't think much of it the first time. The button to do this has been removed. I can find old posts explaining where it is, and it's not there any more. How do I remove this song from my playlist?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Simply removing this feature from the desktop without an alternative is really uncool! Especially because it still works in the (Android) app. The algorithm is a disaster, I always have to skip at least 25 of the 30 songs... Without the feature to skip unwanted songs, the Discover Weekly playlist is honestly pretty useless! So please reintroduce it as soon as possible or come up with an alternative!
Also missing the dislike button, tired of spotify making the user experience worse, first the plus button and now theyre taking away the dislike button too, time too look at youtube music i guess
Hi, this is important. I want it back as well. One of the best features. Don't know how many versions of Adagio for strings I have used this on.
@ThaVisk1, I suggested the same as a workaround, a few weeks ago.
But that's not the point. You don't want to have to resort to a hack in a paid subscription. Not permanently, anyway.
But please look for Loneliest_Cabin's post 5 days ago to see what Spotify has to say about this.
Update: AMAZING NIGHTMARE!!!.
I had my earphones synced to my phone when I arrived yesterday to work, so I decided to check this weeks Discover Weekly. After a couple of rounds, I asked to remove 3-4 songs that were quite annoying… as someone from Spotify suggested: "oh, you can still use this option in the mobile version!"
Guess what? Today I'm using again the laptop version… and the removed songs are still there!! WhyTF do you include a "remove song" feature, but you only remove it in the phone, and keep the song in the laptop version?? That's nonsense, what's going in in Spotify?? Is there anyone in there thinking??
Well if this isn't fixed soon (end of month is my personal deadline) i'm gonna cancel my subscription.
There is no use for me if spotify recommend **bleep**ed up songs because of some algorithm that i cant even reset.
What do you mean "solved"? Totally disingenuous. FIX THIS, SPOTIFY
This very much need to be brought back. Who marked this as solved??
bring back the button or recommend decent music 😄
Still having the same issue and really **bleep** off about it. There was really no reason to remove this button other than to allow Spotify to force us to listen to music it wants us to listen to, rather than letting us play an active role in curating our recommedations.
Yea I do the same. Why fix something that is not broken? Spotify bring back the damn Dislike button! @!#!@$#
This is beyond ridiculous.. Bring the button back to the web and desktop applications. Glad that there are enough alternative streaming services to choose from, should this feature not be brought back.
Please see my earlier post - this has been removed temporarily and will return.
Doesnt show for me
How many developers de you need to make a revert? Just remove the commit of the intern who did this and fire it.
It's almost February 2025 and Discover Weekly is still useless on desktop because I can't hide songs I don't want to hear. Please bring back the dang Hide This Song button, I guarantee it's not that hard!
All these complaining people are people who obviously can't read or really don't think. This issue is marked as "solved" because we have a clear answer that they are doing some changes and the button will return.
That doesn't mean there is no room to voice complaints about the way this change was made (by removing a heavily used feature before the replacement is ready).
The Spotify team has also encouraged people to continue voicing their opinions on how important the "hide" functionality is to them:
@Loneliest_Cabin wrote:[...] Of course your voices always help keep things in focus for our internal teams, so feel free to tell us how important this feature is for you.
I think their response has been pretty poor in setting expectations, which is also causing more comments here. The latest is they're working on improving things ... but no timeline or expectations. Are we talking days, weeks, months?
This is terrible. I can't listen to my discover weekly anymore because I can't get rid of the junk : (
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
