I'm on the premium plan, using the Windows desktop app version of Spotify. I'm trying to remove a song from my Discover Weekly playlist, since it's been there before and I didn't think much of it the first time. The button to do this has been removed. I can find old posts explaining where it is, and it's not there any more. How do I remove this song from my playlist?
Solved! Go to Solution.
If I can't remove a song from my Discover Weekly playlist, I will stop listening to this playlist. Hope your engineers enjoy the decreased metrics by removing a necessary function!
It's so frustrating how the suits making these awful, decisions won't even read any of this. Every single stupid "design desicion" has always been about money. They don't care if some of us theaten to cancel our memeberships, someone's ran the numbers and they add up that we are insignificant.
And not everything has to be driven through a phone app. I'm tired of companies shoving these "features" on us, where everything is an app collecting all kinds of data. Why can't we just have some quality of life? Why remove a feature NOBODY complained about? Why not bring it back while you work on your new "better" feature? Why the two months back and forth if you're gonna say "heeeey we know you love this, so you won't be able to use it going forward, isn't that amazing?
I'm sure whoever pitched this brilliant idea will get a pat on the back for the well done data mining and increase in revenue, while we'll have to put up with awful song suggestions and less features.
It's bad enough your algorithms are so bloated now that I basically get the same 50 songs on loop every time, now you're actively removing one of the VERY FEW ways of us impacting it. Stop trying to get artificial "intelligence" to guess what I want, and instead maybe listen to me? Why is it when I find a new song and hit "song radio" I get the exact same 50 songs I know?
I appreciate my post is a rant, but it sure doesn't feel like you deserve praise in any way
Same, the minus sign for "remove from playlist" has been missing for two, possibly three weeks as of 1/13/25. I would usually give the list a first listen, remove the songs of no interest, then listen again later in the week, perhaps keeping or removing songs. For the 2nd or 3rd passes, I am not at a screen able to skip a song. So Discover Weekly lost utility. Many people have this issue dating back years. Perhaps Spotify is A/B testing on us. Thumbs down!
Spotify for macOS (Apple Silicon)
1.2.53.440.g7b2f582a
They say to just use skip instead but the song will just come around again. Brain dead idea to remove it, totally short sighted and in no way is it 'for user benefit'
Seriously? Not able to provide the most important and basic function is pathetic. Get it together Spotify.
The "dislike" or "hide" button for songs on playlists such as Discover Weekly, Daily Mix, etc. seems to have disappeared from the Mac app UI. Please put it back. So often there are songs in this playlist that I do not want to hear again. Often I will listen to the playlist several times in a given week, and it's very annoying to have to always go to the UI and manually skip the ones I don't like. Why did you even remove it in the first place?? It was there before and it was great. Please reinstitute it the way it was before.
I'm having the problem too, and it's now the middle of January!
Spotify for Windows (64b), version 1.2.50.335.g5e2860a8
Yeah, that's right! Put it back ASAP! I'm not even sure why some russian tracks are on my Discover Weekly playlist in the first place. And now I'm brute forced to listen to that **bleep**! Disappointment..
Another question: if I'm able to hide the song from the playlist on my mobile app, why doesn't it sync with desktop app? It is still there and it is still playing! Why you do this to us?
Last time I planed to switch to some other music app the universe conspired against that plan and made The Joe Rogan Experience available exclusively on Spotify. Combined with the fact that the Discover Weekly playlist was the main avenue of finding new music has made so years have passed since then and I am still a Premium Duo member.
Now Joe Rogan is everywhere. Discover Weekly forces me to listen to shitty music every time unless I go trough the playlist unless I constantly skip songs manually.
Why the **bleep** am I still here?
It's very frustrating, please bring back the ability to ban/remove tracks from Discover Weekly.
I'm on Premium and using the Linux desktop client, version 1.2.52.442.g01893f92 (from the spotify debian apt repo).
This is an actual dealbreaker for me. Either you fix this ASAP or I'm finally moving to a different streaming service. There is no excuse for constantly breaking and mismanaging such a simple music streaming client UI.
Same here on linux 😡
Also dealbreaker for me 😫
Please add back the hide button on desktop. I mainly listen to Spotify while I work, so I need to have the full functionality in the desktop app. I do see the hide button in the Android app, but it doesn't sync to the desktop app and the song still plays.
Why did Spotify do this? My guess is that people are tired of the AI songs and Spotify decided that they're getting too many dislikes. So what better way to get more plays than remove the ability to hide them? Enshittification marches on I guess.
I've been using Spotify Premium since the beginning.
I am waiting the hide song feature come back for Windows Desktop as well because removing this feature dramatically declined my pleasure. There is no sense removing this feature while we got used to its efficiency so much and on every platform. Now I cannot listen to my discover weekly since I have to forward every song I would hide each and everytime.
I hope you figure this out as soon as possible.
I cant believe this has been removed. Please return the basic functionality of disliking songs to remove it from your discovery list.
Spotify consistently begging me to do the work to switch to a new streaming app. They make so much money and the thing I value most - music discovery - has consistently gotten worse year over year. And they love taking away tools that let users tune recommendations?
Maybe all part of forcing people to listen to AI slop so they don't even have to pay artists a few pennies.
Very confused as to why so many things get marked as solved when the issue is very much still live. This is bad customer service and even worse product flow - your product team has a terrible process and I am embarrassed for the way these things are handled.
To be very specific: the whole point of Spotify (and why it defeated Pandora) is to allow the enduser to curate music (and now, I guess, dogwater podcasts and audiobooks) and users are *literally* unable to do that on the discovery playlist that will now push more content we don't like because we *can't remove songs we dislike* and this is marked as solved despite the fact we have an undefined timeline for when the fix will be put in place. Honestly, this is unacceptable.
The previous time this problem appeared, it was clearly affecting fewer people, because this was so small thread. Now, when it reemerged, everyone seems to experience it and this topic is overflooded. If we only had some eyes from Spotify's support. I don't recall any official response aside those quoted by other users.
Please, hit likes to the topic, so it would show how much this is a problem. Also, one of my posts was marked as solution, but there is no solution in sight. We don't know when this will be fixed or if any.
