Would a Spotify Connect car stereo controlled through my cellphone burn cell data?

I'm considering a couple of different car stereos. One of them has Spotify Connect. I'm a premium subscriber, and I'll likely be making several road trips in the next few months. Since cell data plans are so restrictive, I'd like it if I could listen to music through my car stereo without burning data, and preferably without having to download thousands of songs. Would a Spotify Connect car stereo controlled by my cellphone (not connected to WiFi) use cell data?
