Hey there,
Thanks for reaching out! I think I might know what's going on here 🙂
If Spotify is open on two devices simultaneously, your play queue will sync and carry over to the second device.
However, if you e.g. play your songs on desktop, then close the desktop app and open the mobile app, the app will display the last things you've played on the mobile device itself.
As for the songs being the same, it could be attributed to the queue progress not carrying over, so it's a good idea to monitor what happens for the time being. In case you spot any issues of course, do let us know. We'd be happy to take a look.
Keep us posted!

Vasil,
Thank you so much for this! I will definitely try to remember to keep an eye on this. If it seems to fix the problem, I will mark this as fixed.
I spent some time adding probably 100 songs to my queue in the desktop (Mac) app. When I then open the Spotify app on mobile (iPhone), the queue is not available. Instead it starts playing a song I listened to previously, and then plays recommended songs instead of the ones I had queued.
Is this expected behavior for some reason? (And if so, what is the reason?) Or a bug?
And now today my queue disappeared in the desktop app as well. 😞
So all that time spent setting up my queue was completely wasted.
Very frustrating.
It's 2025. Syncing between devices seems like basic functionality.
