PODCAST: Unfiltered with Sahar - Sahar Golshani

“Unfiltered with Sahar” Podcast by Sahar Golshani has been incredibly popular with the Iranian community and the diaspora across the globe.

Following a number of powerful episodes, Sahar’s recent episode “Ep. 32 - SINGLE SAHAR” has created an unprecedented response from listeners across multiple platforms.

Seeing as Spotify does not yet have an option for listeners to rate / review the episodes. This Community Board has been created by one of the listeners to compile the feedback that Sahar has been receiving.

I understand that the nature of the episodes and the narratives are often casual, but please be mindful of the Community Guidelines (appropriate language, etc.) to ensure your submissions are accepted.

Thank you!

I will start with my own submission:

September 24th, 2021:

“ I just want to echo what everyone else has said, your vulnerability in this episode (and others about relationships, family, religion, etc) really hit home for me.

I listen to other podcasts for different reasons but something about hearing you slip in Farsi here and there makes me feel at home. I know I could technically call my parents or whatever lol but somehow that's too much Farsi and not enough relatable content.

You're doing something very raw for those of us that crave a connection to our culture despite not being an active member of it in our immediate / chosen social circles.

I can't wait for this Toronto girls jam that you mentioned on your Instagram Story today.”

September 30th, 2021:

“I'm so happy to see the overwhelmingly positive feedback everyone is continuing to pour in and first of all, CONGRATULATIONS! well deserved for all of the free content material you've been creating and sharing all these years. I obviously don't know your business model (and I have no business)  and I know apple allows reviews on podcasts. But for all the people that are listening elsewhere (like Spotify, etc.) And I was wondering if you have a website or somewhere else that people can submit their reviews. I thought maybe it would be nice to have them all compiled together, but also would make a good case for getting picked up by bigger networks / sponsors in the future. I do hope people are supporting Chaladz Design obviously but I was just thinking how you're obviously doing so much more and it would be so nice if more was coming your way from it.

Also breakups can feel so complicated and alienating, but look at the community you've built where so many people feel seen and validated and I hope it makes you feel validated too.

I honestly hope you eventually lock down a more continuous compensation. When I hear some of the podcasts or shows that big networks are picking up, I'm surprised how those pitches get approved. You've worked for years to nurture a niche audience that's been untapped, and you've done it in a very authentic way. The demand is obviously here and very invested in you as more than just a creative, but rather a voice. The audience is so passionate and happy someone is saying what they've all been thinking/hiding. The most recent creative I can think about is how bad bunny blew up from Sound Cloud, the audience and following carried him and look at how far he has come in the last 6 years. Not to compare the Iranian diaspora to the entirety of the Latin American community, but I think you're at a tipping point with your audience's support.

I know it may seem overwhelming sometimes to be a human and a creative. You don't owe anything to anyone. All I'm saying is if there is any way we can help funnel our praises somewhere that will show sponsors/networks what investing in you could accomplish, why not?

The Iranian community can feel so divisive and violently devoted to their own views, that we expect absolute perfection in any public representation. But that's exactly why I think your magic has been drawing out a very human experience from/for an audience that has been ignored or silenced.

You are making us all feel seen and worthy!”
