My Question or Issue

I can not add my son to our Family Plan.

Spotify say we are not in the same country currently, though we are. We are actually sitting next to each other. What‘s the problem?

Hey @Nadja48,

Thanks for coming to the Community.

This error message appears when the country setting set on both accounts doesn't match. 🙂

You can learn how to update the country setting at https://support.spotify.com/article/country-region-settings/.

Hope this helps!

Thank you! Unfortunatly it still doesnt‘t work. Same message … I checked all the settings. They are all set up the same.

Hey @Nadja48,

Thanks for getting back.

That's odd, can you please post screenshots of this page (from both accounts), while making sure that the email address, username, etc. aren't visible? 🙂

I'm mainly interested in seeing the country setting part.

Looking forward to your reply!

I will. It‘s gonna take a while. My son isn‘t with me right now. Thx

Thanks, @Nadja48! Just post them when you can - no rush 🙂

I have a similar problem: I live with my family in Munich Germany. I am also registered there with my Spotify account. However, my credit cards are still linked to The Netherlands where I work. My family members can't be linked to my family account because my payment information is not linked to Germany but to The Netherlands. What can I do except close my family account!

Hey there @FredWitte

Thanks for getting in touch about this here in the Community.

If you live in Germany with your family, you'd need to use a payment method that has been issued in Germany to be able to add your family members. In this case, what you can do is cancel your current subscription and wait for your account to revert to the free service. No worries, you won't lose your content, you'll only need to re-download your tracks when you'll have Premium again. Once your account is on the free service, you can change your account's country settings (since this depends on the payment method you use when you have Premium) and you'll be able to re-subscribe with the new payment method and add your family members

Hope this clears things up. If you need a hand with anything else, the Community is here for you.

Hi,  Many thanks Eni!

Already had the feeling this could work. However, have no German credit cards so I have to do it with a direct pay link to my German bankaccount. Lets see if that works.

Hey Eni,

thanks for sharing! I‘ll follow your advice and see what happens. Weird thing, since I was able to add my husband couple of weeks ago. Only when I was going to add our son, Spotify rejeceted the attempt. Strange, isnt‘t it? My credit card linked to Spotify is a Deutsche Bank mastercard. But I‘ll try out your suggestion anyway. Keep you posted! Thanks!

Hey @Nadja48,

@Eni's suggestion doesn't apply to your issue just yet, as your issue could be related to the account of the person who's trying to join your plan.

Still waiting on those screenshots, by the way 🙂

I currently have a similar problem. I live together with my parents in Germany and am in turkey with my mom for 3 weeks and my mom just decided that she wanted Spotify so I upgraded my account and tried to make her one, which didn’t work. So I called my dad who’s home if he could try which didn’t work either so my question is is there a way for me to to that from here or did I just spend money for nothing…

@31tdtkahvurdaupkgxcy,
