Change plan manager

Change plan manager

Hi I was hoping to change the plan manager on my account as I don’t use audiobooks and it would benefit someone else in my family plan to be able to use it instead. How can I make this happen? Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for posting in the Spotify Community, and welcome!

Unfortunately, there currently isn’t a way to change the plan manager for a Premium Family plan once you’ve signed up. However, you can cancel the plan, and then a different member of your residence can start a new Premium Family plan as its plan manager.

You can first cancel the existing Premium Family plan by following these steps:

  1. Log in to your account page
  2. Under Manage your subscription, click Change Plan
  3. Scroll to Cancel Spotify and click Cancel Premium

At your next payment date, the accounts of each member of the current Premium Family plan will switch to the free service. At that time, another member of your residence can start the new Premium Family plan here, and then invite the other members by following these steps.

Bear in mind that Spotify users can only switch between different Premium Family or Premium Duo plans once in 12 months.

Feel free to read more about how Premium Family works in this FAQ article, and let me know if you have any other questions.

Have a good day!

I went to the Spotify page to cancel and it says that during the time our family is on "free" Spotify we will not be able to listen to downloaded music off-line.  Will downloads reappear for family members after signing back up or do you have to re-download everything?

Hi, @Guest72,

You get to keep any podcasts you had downloaded, as those are available even with the free version of Spotify. As for music though, you'll have to manually re-download any playlists/albums you had saved for offline listening.

Hope this clears things up. Cheers 🤘

This is good info although it's a ridiculous process, does the same process apply to a Premium Duo plan?

sorry my previous reply was meant for the initial plan manager question

Hi @Daxxxman,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the process is indeed the same for Duo plans as well. Duo and Family plans are more or less functionally identical apart from the number of members, although there are certain features that are for Family only.

Hope this clears things up.
