My Question or Issue

I received my email link for my free Google Home Mini in Australia this morning and after choosing which colour I wanted, I was sent to the verification page. 

I clicked on the checkout for Google and was sent to the main checkout for Google. It asked for my personal address etc that I didn’t fill out yet. There was a Spotify promo code issued for the cost which made the balance $0. 

Unfortunately being a family account I had to do family stuff and put away my phone without completing the order. 

I came back to finish off my details and it had timed out. I went back to the start, back to the checkout and back to my email and each time there was no promo code issued and I was being charged fully for the Google Home Mini. 

Can I have this rectified please as I’d like to avail of the offer.

I did. They are doing absolutely nothing about it.

Unfortunately, as the order has been cancelled, we aren’t able to provide you with a new code to redeem a Google Home Mini device.

We apologise for any inconvenience this causes. If there’s anything else we can help with at all, please let us know."

So because of their stuff up. I cannot claim my google home.

I am quite annoyed

rashadinoz I had the same thing happen. I ordered no problem and got the confirmation of order, 3 minutes later order was cancelled with the same message about being unable to verify information. I realised it may have been because my google account had a different email to my spotify account. Anyway, I called the Aus support number for google and they referred me back to spotify and sent me an email confirming the order was cancelled. I used live chat to contact spotify (this was yesterday morning) and they said they would have to refer it to a specialist team. I recived an email from spotify this afternoon with a new code and a reminder to use the correct email address in my order. Reordered about 10 minutes ago, so far so good. Will update if I have any more dramas.

Have you tried contacting Spotify? They have a live chat you can use. I did it yesterday for the exact same problem and spotify issued me a new code today to order again.

They said they are unable to give me a new code.

That's a bit **bleep** on their part. I had to show them a screenshot of the email from google showing the order as cancelled and today I got an email with a new link.

I absolutly blasted Spotify this morning. Single mother with an 11mth old and lack of sleep helped.

Again they are just telling me to clear cookies and **bleep** and go incognito which doesn't work. 

What i want to understand is how can they give some a new code and tell others that they cannot provide another code?

Try this

 

 

  1. Navigate to the end of the promo link URL, where you can find Parameter called promoCode with value in the format of B-[...]. It will look like this: https://store.google.com/?utm_source=external[...]tm_term=B&promoCode=B-82KX0YFN4VBW7B34CRKOFFI&srp=....
  2. Copy the value B-[...] and use it at the check out as a promo code by pasting it into the box.

If this wasn't time consuming and irritating, it would be rather funny. Because it's all over the place and we are running around in circles trying every which way.

It's good to hear that there is a Spotify avenue that may work. I took a different tack and finally got on Google's chat support last night. It was, of course, an exercise in resigned frustration. The (always machine-cheerful, enthusisatic and young) support person spent 1.5 hours with me, and took me through again, of course, clearing my browsing data, cookies, etc etc - and despite my faint protests at the inevitable outcome, made me try the purchase again. And - what else? - it didn't reverse out the charge. And after trying more things with the same totally forseeable outcome, they finally said that they would now place it in the hands of (cue the drum roll)... Level 2 Support. With an amazing tone of confidence that L2 would resolve all my Life Problems. In "1 to 2 business days"

So. Time will tell. Fingers and toes crossed.

And if (as I think will happen) they send me back to Spotify, at least I have an email trail of cancelled order and Google support emails to take to Spotify's door...

I just hope I never meet the genius... umm...or maybe not ... at Spotify who came up with this link mechanism/process. 
 When I have more energy, I will post the chat I had with Google support. If nothing else, may be good for a few laughs.

A question:
When you re-ordered, did you have to do all that Incognito/cookies stuff?

And if I may also ask, is the address you use a gmail address? Or some other domain?
(My useless curiosity is trying to find a pattern in this craziness, ha ha)

I'm not sure my "grumpy old single guy with a dog" will be anywhere near as effective...

Maybe I should tell them Jazzy is a pit bull. 

I called google first and they told me they couldn't do anything because the order was cancelled and I'd have to contact Spotify. 

I didn't have to do anything out of the ordinary to order either time. The second time I just made sure to use the same email address as I use on Spotify. Both the Spotify email address and the address I used for the order the first time are Gmail addresses.

Really? That sounds pretty good. 
Let's see what the Google/Spotify combine come back with and then I shall try that.

I tried all that too till Spotify said they were iunable to help and could not re-send any code out as it had been used. I give up.  Looking at other music apps maybe

Google has told me that it's not their problem. I have contacted Spotiy and gave them a screen shot of my cancelled order and am now waiting for them to email me. Fingers crossed I get a new code. Really it shouldn't be this hard...... 😞 

OK ~ So they sent me a new link and so far so good. Contact SpotifyCares through facebook. Fingers Crossed. 

I had the exact same issue 'We had to cancel your order because we were unable to validate some of your information.' - I spoke to Google support and they said they couldn't help me and that I would get an 'update about my order if and when one happens'... pretty poor to be honest.

I am getting so FKn annoyed. They tell me they cannot give another code yet they have given people on here another code! wth?!

Same here buddy... They’re totally refusing to give me a new code or help me out and I’ve been a premium subscriber for more then 5 years. If they don’t come up with a solution soon I’ll be taking my music streaming elsewhere.
