Hey!
Thanks for coming to the Community.
In the US, for example, you have to be 18 years or older or be at least 13 years old and have parental or guardian consent. This can vary between countries, though 🙂
Hope this clears things up!
Hey,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome.
Spotify is designed to be appropriate for listeners 13+ years of age, although the minimum age for using the service varies according to local law. You can find the minimum age for your market in our sign up flow.
You should encourage your child to provide their accurate age during registration to Spotify to ensure they are protected by the age-based safeguards within our service.
If your child is under the minimum age but uses Spotify against our terms and conditions, you should help them to close the account and move to Spotify Kids as it’s a feature of the Premium Family subscription.
Hope this helps. If anything else comes up, the Community will be here for you.
I agree with your statement for a 13 year old to 18 year old Spotify account. My child has aged out of the Kids App. I would like the ability for them to explore new music. With that said, there is music and podcasts that I feel is not age appropriate. Advanced parental control would be helpful.
Hey @jkoehler76,
Thank you for reaching out to the Community and welcome
We understand where you're coming from and we appreciate the feedback given. This is a great idea. However, a similar one has already been suggested here - feel free to add your +Vote to it and subscribe!
Also, keep in mind that its Status doesn't mean it won't be implemented, as Spotify will check it out if it reaches the necessary amount of votes.
If you think your idea should be considered as separate, feel free to submit it again highlighting how your idea is distinct from the existing one.
If anything else comes up, don't hesitate to ask.
Did nobody answers this question?
How do we add child accounts? The app says no.
Hey there @Andy_middle_aged_ret,
Thanks for the post.
If your child is under the age of 13, we recommend using Spotify Kids and adding their Kids account to your Family plan. You can read more about this here.
Hope this helps 🙂
Exactly at least even if I'm 16 years old I should have the right to choose my music even though it varies with local government authorities. My country's only way of paying is through a credit card and as a 16 year old there's no way I'll get a credit card
