Premium using my data

Premium using my data

I’m now having the free trial for the spotify premium, but it uses my data? The app won’t work if I turn em’ off . I was interested in paying for the Premium, but not if it uses my data....?

Hi Mariepierbedard,

As with any streaming service, the app needs to fetch the music from a bunch of servers and return that to you on your Spotify app. Therefore, the music isn't saved to your phone, but rather it is streamed over the internet using data.

The upside of this is the access to the thousands of songs at your fingertips! Without this, Spotify wouldn't be the app that it currently is and it wouldn't have access to the breadth of songs that it does currently does.

If you are conscious of using mobile data while streaming on Spotify, you are able to solely restrict the streaming to your Wi-Fi so that it does not use mobile data.

You can do this via the settings in your phone!

Another great service that Spotify now provide is offline downloading of songs. If you sign up for premium, you are able to download songs straight to your spotify so that you can listen to it offline without using precious mobile data. You will still need data to download the songs to begin with, however once you have downloaded them you can listen to them as much as you'd like without being charged for data usage!

I hope this helps you out. Have a great weekend!

Jarred 🙂
