Will family plan work for a primary school?

Solved!

Will family plan work for a primary school?

Looking for a solution for a primary school, where we want to introduce different flavours of music to children. The idea is to have a number of playlists created with a specific type of music each (e.g. jazz, pop, electric, opera, etc.) and allow children to listen the music when at school. We would like to have at least 5 devices to listen to the music (e.g. mobile phones with headphones) for rent (free of charge). I'm wondering if family plan fits here, as it says the address should be same for every person using Spotify. In fact, when at school, children do have the same address ... If not, any other idea?

Hi @mrrtour! That sounds cool 😎. The Spotify family plan usally is ment for a household or family, but if all the devices are at the same address it should be fine. If no one is using the devices at the same time for spotify, you could also use one account, only one person can listen to per device.

You may not even need premium if you are okay with some ads and only being able to shuffle play.

YouTube music might work too.

Good luck

Logan

Hey @mrrtour

Thanks for reaching back out. We have some more info over on our support site, but we're afraid we don't have anymore to share on this right now. If there's anything else we can help you with, don't hesitate to give us a shout.

Hi @LoganHelps. Assumption is up to five devices may be used at the same time and we don't want ads at all. It's primary school with children from 6 up to 13 years old right now. We would like them to concentrate on the music and not on ads 🙂

Thanks for confirming the family plan should work in this case.

Hi @mrrtour, one of my colluges just let me know that spotify is for personal and non-commercial use only. I am sorry to inform you but I don’t think you will be able to do this.

Hi @LoganHelps. I understand the personal use license. I don't see any commercial flavour in my case. It is for personal use of children. The school won't be making money on this. The school will pay Spotify for premium license and then give the possibility to listen to the music to their apprentices.

Anybody from @Spotify out there to clarify this please? The last thing I would like to do is to violate the license agreement.

Hey @mrrtour,

At the moment, Spotify is intended for personal use only and therefore cannot be used to play music in public places such as schools. Unfortunately, this also includes non-profit events. There's more info here.

If there's anything we can do to help, just let us know. Good luck with the music projects.

All the best,

Leo

Hi @Leo. The music is not meant to be played in the public place. The idea is that a child at the school takes the player, put the headphones and listen to the music, personally, while doing her/his lessons. And we want to have five players, so children can take them and listen. When finished listening, they put the player back to the pool.

Will this work in line with the license agreement?
