Cannot renew student premium subscription

Cannot renew student premium subscription

Hi,  I am almost reaching the end of my yearly premium student account subscription and I am trying to renew it before it ends. I have been unable to do so by following the guidelines from SheerID or by following those on the Spotify website. Clicking on any links to renew my student subscription automatically redirects me to my account overview (initial page) without any further indications.

 

Would you be able to help with this?

Hey @jujudly,

 

Thank you for reaching out here in the Community.

 

We send out an email when a user's discount is expiring one month before it does. We'd recommend that you check all your email addresses, spam folders included and see if the email about renewing your subscription is to be found there. 

 

It's also a good idea to double check if the email on your Spotify account is correct.

 

A possible reason as to why you're redirected to your account page is because you can also renew your student discount from there. Once verified, your next payment will go through at the discounted price.

 

On another note, if you've already been verified by SheerID, you should have received an email with a link for activation. You can click on the link to activate the offer. Keep in mind that the link from SheerID is valid for 7 days. If you still can't find it or if the link is no longer active, we recommend reaching out to SheerID. Their customer support team will happily help out with the whole verification process, as they are the ones in charge of it and we don't have access to their systems.

Hi Lyubka and thank you for the quick answer. The email address I use is still working as I am receiving communications from Spotify on it but I haven't received anything related to my student discount renewal. I have followed the instructions in the link your attached but still end up with the same results: redirection to my account overview page.

 

I reached out to SheerID separately and following their instructions lead to the same results mentioned above.

 

Is there anything else I could try?

Thanks for the post.

 

It's possible that you're unable to renew your student discount because you've leached the limit of 4 years in total of Spotify Premium Student. If you've used the discount for 4 years, you won't be able to re-activate it again.

 

Can you let us know if that's the case?

Hi Alex and thanks for the reply. I reached out to the support team about it and they told me that I apparently had one year left to use this discount. Is there any other way to verify?

Thanks for getting back to us and apologies for any confusion created on our end.

 

As @Alex mentioned if you've applied the discount for 4 consecutive times already, you won't be able to apply anymore. Unfortunately, this is the limit for this offer. The average length of higher education lasts about 4 years in most countries, which is why Premium Student only lasts up to 4 years. Spotify understands that some students stay longer at a college/university, however, we can't make special exceptions. 

 

If you've been sent here from our Support team, they probably wanted you to check our Idea Exchange board for a similar suggestion to leave your vote on.

 

Fortunately, the Community folks have already created an Idea about this. If you'd like to see that option available, go ahead and check this idea here. Make sure you give it a thumbs up, so that it would have a better chance of being considered, as Spotify always strives to improve your experience.

 

Please note that even if an idea is currently set to “Case Closed” you can still support it as we revisit those ideas on regular intervals. It might be that their time would be right in the future!

My Question or Issue

Hi there, 

 

so I currently got the mail stating my Premium Student expires in a month. When I tried to extend the discount, I get no further than the "Get Premium for Students page". When I'm on the account page, I click "get discount", on the next page it tells me I'm verified until January and on the next page I may choose a plan and get Premium for Students. So after clicking on the button I'm get to a page saying "Get Premium for Students", below that "your current plan" but I can't select anything. So I'm stuck right there.

 

Can anybody help, how I can go on from there?

I got the mail that my student subscription is expiring in a month which is why I wanted to verify the student status again. I have not been studying for 4 years yet. 

 

I clicked on the link in the mail and got to a web page that said that I am verified as a student until a month from now. Below that I could click on ''choose subscriptions''. After that comes a page saying my current subscription is the student premium. However after that, there is nothing to click on. 


If I go to my account and take the path that way, I come to the same page where I can do no more. 

 

What is the problem? Where can I verify that I am a student?
