I have Device limit reached after having to facotry reset my phone.

I have Device limit reached after having to facotry reset my phone.

I recently had to factory reset my phone and watch, both of what had downloaded songs on them. Now after the reset I can't download anymore songs as I have reached "Device Limit"

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Community!

Here is what you can do from your end to resolve this:

  • start Spotify on a device which no longer needs the downloaded content and use the Remove all downloads button by going to Settings> Storage.
  • start Spotify on a device which no longer needs the downloaded content and manually remove all the downloaded offline content.
  • wait until the offline license expires on a device which they no longer use.
Note: A device can stay offline for a maximum of 30 days, then all offline content will be disabled and the license will be revoked. Once license has been revoked, you can download offline music on another device.

You can also try logging out everywhere, and logging back in only on the devices you're currently using. This is a good idea, if you've ever logged in on other people's devices like computers, phones and gaming consoles.

Hope this helps.

I have reached the device limit on offline downloads because of having to reinstall some operating systems a couple of times, meaning that devices that no longer exist are still under the "offline download" list. So how can I remove all of them so then I can start over with the devices?

I have the exact same issue.

Thank you for the reply, but It's impossible for me to delete the files that aren't there. It seems like Spotify still thinks there are downloaded songs on my phone and watch but in reality everything got wiped after I did a factory reset for both of them.

Hi there @DispłayĘrrør,

In this case it's best to wait 30 days, after which the downloads on all your unused devices should be automatically removed by the system.

Hope this helps.

For some reason this answer got "Marked as solution" tag on it but it is no solution.

Wait 30 days?

Spotify should clearly have an option for the account owner to see what devices have downloaded songs and delete them when required.

Factory resetting a device should not cause this kind of issue OR spotify should provide user to manually delete downloaded songs not mark solution to wait 30 days as an actual solution.

Hey @DispłayĘrrør,

If you can't remove the offline data from your device and you can't wait 30 days for it to be automatically removed, it's best to reach out to the folks over at Customer Support, as they're the ones who can take a closer look at this and assist you further.

Cheers,
