why did my student account cancel without alerting me after only one month?

I signed up for a student premium account last month and the website confirmed it had gone through with no problems. That first payment went through at the student price. This month though I was billed the full premium expense and had to change it back to a student account. I didn't change it to regular premium myself and I received no email or alert that it had changed. Will this happen again? Can I be refunded the difference?

Such a thing shouldn't happen, as the student discount only expires after 12 months.
