SoundTouch & Family

SoundTouch & Family

Encountered a problem this morning where I left for work and was listening to music on my phone.

It paused when my partner started playing from the SoundTouch back in the house.

Is there a way around this? I have now set up a family account and added my partner. I thought this worked by just allowing your music to play in more than one location, but apparently it just adds an account to the 'family' and remains quite separated. But as far as I know the SoundTouch only works with one Account.

So is there a way around this? My girlfriend still can't play from home without linking her own account to Bose, but then mine won't be linked.

Thanks for your help!

Hey @Nathanjrb

Unfortunately it is not possible to use multiple streams on one Spotify account. Spotify accounts are designed so that each account is meant for one person only with one device playing at a time.

It sounds like you are both trying to use the Bose speaker with your premium accounts? I found this about using multiple accounts, this might be the solution to your problem, to use Spotify Connect from the mobile app, instead of linking a Spotify account to the bose speaker.

Check out these articles on how to use Spotify Connect with the Bose speaker (should work without having to link an account to it, that way you can both play on it whenever you want)

Does that help? Let me know how it goes.

Here's some info about the family plan:

The way Spotify Family works is that each person creates their own Spotify account first if they do not already have one. For everyone to create a Spotify account they will need their own email address.

Once everyone has their own Spotify account you then invite them to join your family plan and then they sign in with that account in the app. Make sure everyone enters the same home address when it asks for verification. Then everyone will be able to listen without interrupting the other users.

Hi folks,

The way I got around this issue was to create a new Spotify account to be used on our home system and add it to my family plan (that I have now signed up to). I connected this account to my SoundTouch account and left my Spotify account logged into the app on my iphone as it usually is.

Now everything works as it should. I've also given my girlfriend a new account and added it to family so now she can also listen to her Spotify without interfering with mine 😃

Thanks!
