Hi there, I'm relatively new to Spotify. I love the service, but I'm kind of weirded out by one thing: of late, they've been playing two Trojan (condom) ads. This is fine in and of itself, but I listen to my music in common areas a lot, places where my family can hear. When it comes to the younger kids, I'm nervous about them hearing it (they also have Spotify accounts of their own, so I'm a little concerned about that, too, because the ads are a bit...specific); with the older relatives, I know it'll just be too weird. Is there any way to report an ad or stop if from playing on your personal Spotify? I don't mind ads at all--I just mind this ad, considering the fact that it's legitimately weird. Thank you in advance!
Solved! Go to Solution.
Honestly, can we opt out of these condom commercials? They're akward and annoying. I like to listen to music and my little brother tags around. I don't want to explain "orgasmic pleasure" to anyone. I'm sure you can find other people willing to buy commercials: it's Christmas-time!
inb4 "Spotify is free stop complaining or buy premium." I can live without Spotify - I've done it for years before; I figured Spotify and I would both benefit from user feedback.
I really enjoy the service and think this is a small issue with plenty of solutions the team could come up with!
I have been playing CHRISTmas music from spotify when the condom ad came on. I have no use for condoms and I have younger sisters listening to these ads as well. I suggest that you offer different options to your patrons with regards to ads. I know that with all the personalization and options possible that there are ways available to change this. Now I understand that Trojan is a good supporter of Spotify, and their ad helps a lot. Maybe you could offer a "G-rated" button, that would only include the family friendly commercials. Or maybe, like facebook, we could personalize the ads that we listen to.
For the moment, I have a suggestion to other listeners. I now keep a broken pair of headphones next to my laptop, and whenever the ad comes on, I just plug in the headphones for the duration of the ad. It's a bit tedious, but it is effective.
More easy way: just update to Unlmited and say last goodbye to ads!

This is exactly the reason why i quit using pandora....you want me to use your program? I will go elsewhere if i must, any type of ad relating to sexual content or foul language is out of the question, clean up your act. Im an 18 year old MALE, and i HATE these ads, all of them, sex toy ads, condom ads, anything that tries to sell me sex. if i wanted to buy sex i would have done it by now, there is enough know how on where to go if you want to plesure yourself, keep it out of the music, irrigardless of what type of music we listen to it is absolutly unacceptable, THIS IS THE ONLY TYPE OF AD I HEAR ANYMORE! interest me with something thats actually interesting like hunting or something else. I will leave accordingly if there has been nothing done about these ads by saturday. I suggest you others that are unsatisfyed with these ads to go somewhere else, dont keep using the program if they dont comply with the users wants.
so embarassing to hear repeatedly AT WORK
These need to stop, they keep playing and I'm at work!!
Hey,
I would suggest to send feedback about ads using contact form.
You have rights to send feedback to Spotify, so do this.

I think condom ads aren't really what I want to hear while I'm at work, though. Much like how google has "safe" search, Spotify should have an area in settings that should filter certain types of ads based on the criteria that I set, not based on my user profile.
Hey 🙂
Have a read and kudo this ideas topic if you would like to see this implemented 😉

Probaly a better option would be to send a complaint to your country's equivalent of the UK Advertising Standards Authority.
Back to back Trojan ads. Not a break with a few songs, but TWO Trajan adverts right after each other. Clearly, this is a problem. Clearly, you alreay know about it and *working on it*.
Easiest course of action? Delete the ad from your servers. Long term solution? Don't allow condem ads!! I refuse to pay for a service to remove offensive adverts. If I choose to pay, it will be because of the features I like and that you offer. Paying for service to remove filth? Not an option. Honestly, would you pay for a salesperson to stop calling? No, you'd report them/ban them or even potentially call the cops on them for unwanted harassment.
Can we at least get a timeframe to when this will be resolved? Or maybe even a solution??
Please note right off the bat that I am not a prude. I love sex (and especially safe sex and family planning) just as much as the next responsible adult. That said, even I am finding these condom ads to be not only inappropriate for streaming radio, but also terribly obnoxious. I listen to Spotify primarily at work and while I don't mind ads in general and appreciate that you folks have to make ends meet somehow, it seems as though there still needs to be some standards for the kinds of ads you are willing to air. I won't be able to continue listening to Spotify if these ads continue. The most ridiculous part of it all is that these ads are coming on my Spotify classical/instrumental music radio station, so they stand out all the more! Going from Wim Mertens to "Trojan Maaaaan" doesn't quite work in the workplace.
I just jumped on here to make the same comment... Please stop airing the condom ads... or any ads that are hawking "orgasmic pleasure". I enjoy spotify and don't mind you using ads, but please use some judgment.
I am rather frustrated with this same issue. I play spotify in my house with my family, and it is quite disturbing when condom ads are playing between songs. It is inappropriate for the younger ages, and I do not appreciate it myself. If this continues, I cannot continue listening to Spotify.
I happen to be a card-carrying prude of sorts, actually. The condom ads are the sort of thing I would `flag as inappropriate' in other contexts. It's a huge bummer.
I completely agree. I would appreciate being able to listen to music without being jarred and disgusted by inappropriate ads. Feel free to use ads- but for the many listeners like myself who will otherwise be prompted to stop listening to spotify, please use some discretion.
Please allow us to start Spotify with an at work option. One that removes NSFW ads or album art. Its kinda akward when a condom ad runs while I am listening to spotify in my Lab. Doesn't help that you made the Ads a lot louder than the music.
