For this week’s Question of the Week, I wanted to ask:

Are there specific songs that remind you of any countries or regions you’ve visited? Feel free to share a few songs that remind you of certain places you’ve visited.

Every time I visit New York, Stockholm, and Amsterdam (or even when I just listen to it), I think about that specific city… brings back memories. Let’s see what you come up with!

Nice question, @Billy-J!

For me, Weedpecker’s song “Into the Woods” sometimes brings back memories of the deciduous forests in central New York, where I spent some time while attending college. In particular, it reminds me of the autumn season there, when the leaves of the trees in surrounding forested areas there change colors into brownish and reddish hues.

Perhaps the association I have with this song and that particular place and time of year could be explained by the song title and the autumnal colors of the album art alone. However, I think it could also be because the music slowly coalesces into something dreamlike and natural-sounding, and then continues to meander in a fluid yet somewhat unpredictable way (there isn’t really an obvious “verse-chorus-verse” song structure); I'd say that the music itself bears some similarities to hiking on a scenic trail in a deciduous forest during the fall as well.

Hi there!
I was in Budapest last year, right when Rag’n’Bone Man’s “Rush of Blood” came out. Now, every time I hear that song, I think of the Danube....

And the song “Vor i Vaglaskogi” by Kaleo makes me think of Iceland, even though I’ve never been there… the scenery in the music video reminds me of it. Visiting Iceland is definitely on my list!
