I'm very upset with the new condom adds I'm getting on spotify... I hated the adds in the first place but this and the non stop glitches are the final straw... there are kids on this program... I will be uninstalling spotify as well as telling all my friends about this... don't come back with: " well if you would buy spotify premium you won't have to listen to the adds" because I'm not waisting a single dime on this program.... I'd rather spend a dollar per song on itunes

These ads are not okay! I am 19 and don't want to hear about condoms every half and hour, it makes me and everyone else in the room with my music on uncomfortable. I will gladly leave Spotify if this is not quickly resolved. Spotify is a great program, but these ads ruin it to the point that I am embarassed to use it.

As for your terms of use, 15 is hardly an apropriate age for constant advertisement for sex supplies. Fix is, Spotify!! I don't care that you have ads, just make them non-explicit!

Honey badger don't care. They make more money off keeping it on than they would taking it off and paying back Durex what they owe for breaking the contract. Most people will put up with it even if they don't like it. 12 pages of us is really only a tiny handful of customers in the larger scope of their listener base.

Spotify, the least you could do is offer some assurance that you are working on a solution to avoid this in future and let us know you'll send us an update when you get it worked out.

This my THIRD time repsonding to these Durex ads. I will return to post a comment of annoyance every time I have to. And every time, I will COUNT the number of times I have to come back to complain about these ads. How badly do you need the revenue from Durex? Enough to piss off your customers?

I also heard the ad again this morning. Please take them off the air.

And heard it again this afternoon.

I'm sorry to be the one person who disagrees, but honestly who cares?  It's an ad.  If there are 13 year olds or young people on spotify that hear it, let it be.  they need to find out anyway.  If they ask you what it means, have that conversation with your kid.  People need to stop complaining and freaking out so much over little things like this.

"but honestly, who cares?"

Well, all of us who have posted in this thread complaining do! Do we not count?  That's why we're here letting Spotify know that there are people who care about this, who are offended by this, who think this is poorly done.  So when you ask "honestly who cares", you clearly don't feel our opinion matters.  Seems like it must be the same belittling attitude that has been adopted by the spotify team.

WE CARE!

Chris

Who cares? People who find this inappropriate care. It's not Spotify's job to force the issue of condems or alcohol or harsh language between parents and their children. Spotify's job is to provide an ad-based (or paid for) entertainment service. It's also not an appropriate ad to play at work since you can get fired for such inappropriate things in the workplace. So parents care, bosses care, customers care....and I'm sure that's just the short list. If you want to hear the ad, that's fine. But Spotify needs to give people a choice to not hear adult-content ads when it's not appropriate for them to be heard.

Maybe if I were listening alone and nobody else could hear then you could make the point that I am just freaking out for no reason, but, as Makhaon pointed out, many people listen at work which is sometimes at a school or church where people can get fired or at least have an awkward conversation with a boss who can ban the use of Spotify by all staff (and enforce it with a service like OpemDNS).

What would happen if there was a pornographic ad on Disney Channel? "It's an ad. If there are 13 year olds or young people on [Disney Channel] that [see] it, let it be. they [will] find out anyway."

I completely agree with those who are upset about the adult advertisements on spotify. I play classical music for my classroom every morning at an elementary school 2nd grade classroom! For Pete's sake! PLEASE! Remove those types of ads. This is an inappropriate way to coax people into paying for a subscription. Please stop!

The real problem is that Spotify doesn't have any ad inventory. If you pay attention to the ads you get it's really just offers to upgrade to the premium version, Sun Trust, Anthem Blue Cross and the condom ads. There might be a few more in there but there really isn't much of an ad rotation. And that has to be because Spotify has not been successful at selling ad space.

So Spotify can't let you opt out of ads because they don't have any other ads to show you. Taking on an ad like this when they had no inventory really seems like a bad decision though.

So it's not just me, I've introduced a lot of friends to spotify, and HATE the darn condom ads, so not appropriate, I have kids on Spotify and will make sure they drop it if they can't get these removed. There's got to be some kind of settings for ads.

i was completely horrified and offended when i heard the explicit condum ad while listening to spotify with my young children.  completely unaccetable.  if this isn't rectified soon we will no longer be listeners.

You know, I completely understand having ads on the free version of Spotify. But here's the thing. I use Spotify at work. I truly DO NOT appreciate having an incredibly loud condom ad popping up. It's incredibly inappropriate! And it's been up for how long? Several weeks? Please either give us the choice to rate ads like this like Facebook does or keep them PG. Thanks, Spotify.

its been over a month and they still havnt done anything. Im just going back to iTunes, but I will still fight this sense I lke the idea for this software. It is a great service, except the ads. Think we need a diffrent approach. I think we should email the people who are payed to put the ads on.

advertiser@spotify.com.

Tell them how inappropriate these ads are!

I totally agreee with everyone on here..  this is an inapporpriate commercial, and the fact that the only way to get rid of it is to close out of spotify and  restart it is sooo annoying.   I'm ready to go back to Pandora.

I've sent a message to spotify about it, and have yet to hear back from them.  I don't mind the ads.. but please be aware that children could be listening,  especially when you offer children's genre.

I also listen to it in my office, and I work at a church...  I was pretty appaled the first time I heard it...   I will just go back to listening to my music on my computer and ditch spotify.

Folks, here's a comment about the advertising.  I request that spotify not post ads that make it look like a porn magazine or a nightclub.  Please drop the alcohol and condom ads.  I decided to go to unlimited for this reason.  Please build a promotion of decency in to your advertising.  You can influence many young people for good rather than for promiscuity.

I use Spotify at my church to play for the youth group because we've made some awesome playlists but I have to have someone sitting by our soundboard at all times waiting to turn down alcohol and condom ads. I have no personal beef with the ads but can I offer a constructive solution? Could we get a "is this ad relevant to you" option? So that I can vote down the condom ads and still hear other ads. I won't be ditching spotify from my personal life but as far as church goes, it's back to the drawing board.

On a humorous note: have some self respect spotify's spell check, it doesn't recognize spotify as a correctly spelled word 😛

It's not Spotify's spellcheck, it's your browser plug-in's. 😉
