I'm very upset with the new condom adds I'm getting on spotify... I hated the adds in the first place but this and the non stop glitches are the final straw... there are kids on this program... I will be uninstalling spotify as well as telling all my friends about this... don't come back with: " well if you would buy spotify premium you won't have to listen to the adds" because I'm not waisting a single dime on this program.... I'd rather spend a dollar per song on itunes

This is the FOURTH time I've heard this ad. Thanks, Spotify. Will keep coming back every time to complain about this ad.

Idk if it's going to make any difference. Elsewhere on the Forum, I saw a spotify moderator suggest to change FB settings so that the ads wouldn't come up (based on age), but then the FB ads aren't as relative either. I let FB know that one of their aps is suggesting something that would compromise their advertising revenue, and also is simply not honest, there's a checkbox to validate that you're underage. I'm with midwisdom, I plan on complaining a lot, maybe they'll change it then.

Is running distasteful condom ads Spotify’s way of trying to force people to purchase Spotify’s premium service? If so, I think it’s a very poor marketing strategy, bound to create many vocally unhappy listeners. I know many folks who play Spotify at home where children can listen, and in the workplace where coworkers might overhear. I’m not impressed with Spotify’s moral compass.

My teenage sons have spotify on our computers at home.  It was VERY upsetting to be sitting at my computer and hear a condom ad come across.  It would be to Spotify's advantage to tailor thier ads to the type of music you listen to.  Our playlists consist of Christian contemporary, Christian hard rock, Christian rap, Muppet soundtrack, and music without profane language or sex.  Spotify will not be played as long as the condom ads are played.  

It may be an attempt to force people to purchase the premium package, but in many cases, it will simply mean families create playlists on another media player or listen to their radio of choice online.

Totally inappropriate spotify. Condom ad came on while listening to the Muppet soundtrack. I am a school teacher and made a playlist of classical music to play when my students come into the room and for writing activities. There is no way I can use spotify in my classroom till you clean up your ads. Thank goodness the ad came on while I was at home or I could have been in serious trouble.

I agree!! I am listening to some music that brings back a lot of memories and, suddenly, a FREAKING CONDOM AD!?! Spotify! The alcohol ads were bad enough! Seriously...I will cease to use this application for GOOD, and I will get EVERY single person I know to do the same if this DOES NOT STOP! This is ridiculous!

I agree. REMOVE THE CONDOM ADS. I love to listen to spotify as I work, but not when my 11 year old is sitting next to me and this trash comes on. It is actually a waste of money to target me anyway! I hate those things, ha ha.

I am also very shocked by the condom advertisement on Spotify. I not only find it inappropriate, but unamusing as well. I cannot believe that Spotify would put up a advertiesment like that knowing full well that children might be listening, or even mature adults who really don't want to listen to things like that while enjoying music. I too will have to uninstall Spotify is this advertisement stays on much longer.

I'm a big fan of the power of Social Media. It doesn't look like Spotify's responding in the Community, but maybe they will if they see it on Facebook and Twitter. I've created a FB group "Seriously Spotify Enough With The Stupid Condom Ads" which I will take down once they stop playing them. Feel free to join and get your kids to join. I also plan on hastagging #spotify on Twitter in regards to the condom ads. Spotify is a great application, just bad marketing strategy.

This is the FIFTH time the condom ads played. It seems the frequency is increasing. Again, if the ads are going to be annoying, i'm going to keep posting.

I opened spotify again after not using it for a while.  I hoped to listen to some music before the Durex ad came on, but I only got through about 1 album before I heard it.  I hope quitting Spotify before the ad is completed removed the revenue from that ad.

I am listening to Pandora now and don't plan to return to Spotify until Spotify staff report that the ad has been blocked for at least my account.  Maybe if other users report that they don't hear it for a long time i would consider trying until I hear the ad then abstaining for even longer.

Spotify, please stop ignoring us.

I find this thread hilarious. What re you trying to protect your children from? Seeing you all worked up and embarrassed because you don't have the tools to explain what attraction between 2 people means?!

I knew about sex AND about condoms from a young age and I turned out wonderfully. Be an adult about it; pay for a subscription or grow a pair and learn how to speak appropriately about difficult issues with young people. They're gonna find out sooner or later and better that it's from a good role model.

I know I'm just rehashing what everyone else has said, but take that condom commercial off the air! It is extremely inappropriate in any social situation, I can no longer listen if my children are present, or at work or have Spotify on even if we just have friends over for some drinks. This is ridiculous.

I will be changing back to Pandora if this continues.

Do you have kids? Think its OK to discuss with a 5 year old who is not ready? Spotify should not be the catalyst for the sex talk with a child.

Not only that, but the commercials are done in bad taste.
