mobile data consumption while on spotify connect

I am using spotify on my desktop computer and I want to use spotify connect on my mobile phone so I can control my songs. Does my spotify on my mobile phone also stream the songs I'm playing on my desktop computer and does it consume mobile data? The songs I'm playing were not downloaded on either devices. Thanks in advance.
