My Question or Issue

I’m using the Spotify Web API in my app. Everything was working perfectly yesterday, no code changes were made.

Suddenly I started getting 429 Too Many Requests responses, and now every single endpoint returns 429, even very simple ones like /me or /search?limit=1.

Timeline:

• Yesterday around 01:00 AM — API was already returning 429
• Today at 09:00 AM — tried again, still 429
• Since then, I stopped sending requests

Questions:

1. Is the rate limit reset counted from the moment of the first 429, or from the last request made?
2. Can retrying during the cooldown extend the block?
3. Is it possible for this throttling to last 12–24 hours for heavy endpoints like recommendations or artists/top-tracks?
4. Is there any risk this is a long-term block on IP or client_id, or should it always recover automatically?
