API TOS Help

API TOS Help

Hi,

I recently contacted web support twice and the support email once and they all redirected me here.

I will paste the email I sent to the support email below and hopefully, a dev can help me.

My name is Ian and I am a CS student at Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey. I have recently founded a project called Accord.ai aimed at curating music recommendations using AI and user listening patterns.

I am sending this email in regard to your TOS warning against "using the Spotify Platform or any Spotify Content to train a machine learning or AI model or otherwise ingesting Spotify Content into a machine learning or AI model".

In no way do I want to violate the TOS which is why I am reaching out to discuss the options I have.

Currently, this project is solely for academic purposes as a way to further my studies and become more adept at using both API's and machine learning.

I do envision a future where Accord.ai is sophisticated enough for its own platform which could potentially seek monetization through ads or partnerships.

In light of this, I am reaching out to inquire about obtaining the proper license for this project to ensure full compliance with your TOS. I would greatly appreciate any guidance or assistance you can provide regarding this process.

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out and checking. Unfortunately there are no exceptions on this, even for academic purposes. You can read (and by the sounds of it already have) the restrictions in the Spotify Developer Terms. Perhaps there are other companies or resources available for you to train your AI on?
