Bug Report: Deep Links broken in Desktop App

Solved!

Bug Report: Deep Links broken in Desktop App

It appears deep links (i.e., linking to a specific song on a playlist) isn't working on the Spotify desktop app right now (MacOS).

Same link will work on mobile, but return an error "Couldn't find that song" on desktop app.

Thanks a lot in advance for reviewing/fixing this bug.

Thank you!

Hey folks,

Thank you for all the info you've shared and for your patience.

We received confirmation from the relevant team mentioning that this should be fixed by now. We'd recommend updating your app to its latest version or performing a clean reinstall (in case you still have it) to make sure there's no previous cache affecting the proper behavior of the app.

We appreciate all of your reports, they were really helpful.

I'm having almost the same issue, but I'm just getting a completely black screen. Definitely concerning because I'm currently running Facebook / Instagram ads that point people to a deep link. It works on mobile and it used to work on the desktop app, but recently stopped working.

I'm also having the same issue.  Advertised links are now going to a blank screen, forcing me to pull my ads for spotify content.

I've exactly the same issue on my new Mac. While in my old one, with old version of Spotify installed, everything works.

This is an issue on Windows as well. Deeplink clicks from Meta or browser on the desktop go to Spotify but not to a specific song or even artist. I've had complaints from a number of potential fans that have pointed this out in comments on our ads.

HI HELLO, I DO KNOW, SOMETIMES THE FACEBOOK LINK DOES NOT WORK BY POST AN ERROR SAME REPORT BY LINK MAYBE SOME OF THE COPY STUFF IS NOT WORKING

Mabye if u restart your spotify by leaving the app then going back to it or mabye by going to another playlist then going back to the same one

Thanks for the suggestion... However, it doesn't make a difference

I’m having a problem saying song can’t be found on desktop Mac/OS but working fine on mobile. Please fix. Thx

I'm using the web player and have tried closing and opening several different browsers without any luck

I have the same issue in the web player

Hey all, just a quick tip that might be helpful for anyone else running Meta ads...I just adjusted my Ad Sets to only target mobile users in the interim (until Spotify hopefully fixes the issue). You can do it by selecting Manual Placements and choose Mobile under the Devices dropdown (screenshot attached).

Hope it helps!

I'm having the same issue.. hope you guys fix this. Thx

Yo! Fix it Spotify

This bug is annoying, please fix this Spotify. I rely on this feature!

This is a huge issue and needs to be fixed. You have artists who have invested their hard-earned money into campaigns that rely on this feature!

Same here, please fix it @Spotify!!!

Same here, please fix it @ Spotify!!

Oh please @Spotify, the deep link function is so crucial! It does work on mobile devices, but the desktops are very important...

It would be nice if this worked for Desktop App and on Web Browsers that are signed into Spotify. Otherwise, I have determined that it becomes very wasteful with ads very quickly when you send traffic to their platform.

Not surprised this doesn't work though. Spotify is actively engaged in anti-competitive behavior.

It's almost as if they are forcing us to spend money on their ad platform(s), otherwise, they have carte blanche to say any stream is artificial by way of a black box.
