Changes to Web API

Changes to Web API

The news published late November last year seems to have been the end of the app I've developed earlier that year and was in the final testing phase before launch. Afraid I already know the answer but I have a questions which I'd appreciate if someone could clarify. The below statement is copied from https://developer.spotify.com/blog/2024-11-27-changes-to-the-web-api

These changes will impact the following Web API applications:

  • Existing apps that are still in development mode without a pending extension request
  • New apps that are registered on or after today's date

Which is the correct interpretation of the first bullet i) an existing app must have a pending extension request as per 2024-11-27 or ii) an existing app can apply for extension and regain access to the deprecated APIs?
