Do I need approval for making a commercial app?

Do I need approval for making a commercial app?

The page here seems to state that you do https://developer.spotify.com/support/

But there seems to be no way to do it https://community.spotify.com/t5/Spotify-for-Developers/Where-I-can-get-the-written-approval-for-my-...

Is this something that only businesses can apply for and not indie devs?

I think it depends what you're trying to do if I understand the terms correctly.

You are not allowed to use the streaming API without written consent, but it looks like you are allowed to use the non-streaming SDK's.

I am interested in knowing how to contact Spotify about this as well. As an Indie Dev, I would like to create an application that uses Spotify's API and streaming services. I would need to be able to monetize it in some capacity(likely subscription-based). Does anyone know how to contact them in this manner?

There is a form you can use: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScawLOKdjegmKoIan9CJRiqrXDmBJ5-rLPa29hXJkSUPC1SCA/viewform

But I've heard some developers didn't get any response, even after months.

Where is the reference for this form, please?

I have just completed it, but how do I know if it is legit?

There's a link to this form in the popup you get when creating a new app, from the dashboard. https://developer.spotify.com/dashboard/applications See attached screenshot.

Suppose I want to upload a FREE app to the app store that uses the web API. I won't include any ads or otherwise monetize the app. Does this count as "commercial" use? Do I need explicit approval?

@Peter_Schorn in that case you wouldn't be considered a commercial use case and all you'd need to do is to submit a quota extension request. This will trigger a review by our team and it will lift the 25 named users requirement.

I'm reading the new guidelines and I'm a little confused, i have an app and the main feature is maps, however i will like to have a music option with Spotify, this will be free for any user, however i have a subscription for my app (for premium options in the map), it will not related to Spotify SDK (as i wrote, this would be always free for the user) so this counts as commercial app for Spotify?

Thanks in advance

EDIT: also i would like to say I applied months ago and the app was "rejected" however my quota limits is not 25 and is ullimted now, so that means I can use the API commercially as an "extension" of my app?

I didn't get the option " I understand I will need permission from Spotify before using this app in a commercial project ". Can you please give me access for use in my project
