The Spotify for developers platform helps many bring their ideas to life. Whether it's a short term app helping an artist’s release or something more long term - there is always a chance of success. Things start to grow and then you might also need what we call a quota extension.
When you request a quota extension or you're simply waiting for your app to be reviewed, there is a follow up process that sets certain limits with the sole purpose of making things fair, better functioning and with an optimal level of user-experience quality.
During this process a few questions may arise. Such as:
During peak periods, it may take longer than six weeks.
The review and extension request process is an iterative process. It is a matter of the developer and the Spotify team finding exactly where things need to be in order for the application to find its audience.
Make sure everything in your request is clear and correct, that you’re providing enough and correct information, adhering to Spotify’s developer terms, policies and design guidelines. If your request is rejected and needs to be resubmitted, an SLA of another 6 weeks will be applied after resubmission. Therefore the more attention and efforts you put into submitting a fully correct request from the beginning - the better are the chances that you will not have to resubmit and save precious time.
It will not help a developer to try to reach out to other Spotify teams to get their request expedited or a question answered. We are the dedicated point of contact who can approve your request and involving other teams may actually interfere with the process. It's best to follow the instructions outlined above and you will receive an answer as soon as possible.
Don’t despair just yet. You will receive an email with applied rejection reasons, and further instructions on how (if) to proceed. Please make sure to read the email thoroughly to understand the reasons for rejection, and possible next steps. If a change can be made to be compliant, simply make the change and resubmit your request. As mentioned above - another review timeline of 6 weeks will be applied upon resubmission. You can navigate in the best way using the email and other applicable resources such as the Dev Terms, Dev Policy or Design Guidelines.
Please keep in mind that if you’re waiting for an answer to an email you’ve sent us - our Developer email will not be monitored for an extended period during this summer. But it’s highly probable that your question will be answered by the topics covered above. You can also refer to the Spotify for developers general questions:

Thank you for your understanding and patience. Take care!
We submitted our app "Tempo in Motion" for review on April 8. At the 6 week mark, we received the message below. We are now approaching another 6 week time lapse with no change in status. We are doing everything we can to follow the requirements and guidelines from Spotify. Can you give us the approval we need? We are anxiously waiting ... Respectfully, Sue
MESSAGE FROM SPOTIFY:
"The review is taking longer than expected We are currently assessing your use case together with other involved departments resulting in a delay. We apologize for the inconvenience and will reach out to you as soon as possible."
Dear Spotify Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to follow up on my recent Extension Request application. I understand that the review process has been delayed due to the involvement of multiple departments, as mentioned in your previous communication. However, I would like to kindly request an update on the current status of my application.
As my project timeline is heavily dependent on the approval of this request, any information regarding the expected completion of the review process would be greatly appreciated. If there are any additional details or documents required from my side to expedite the process, please do let me know.
Thank you very much for your attention to this matter, and I look forward to your prompt response.
Best regards,
freebeat Team

Can we extent all api limit
I’m scratching my head trying to work out Spotifys stance on App fairness? Is this only pertain to Apple?
we have been denied extension of Quota by Spotify twice. After taking 12 weeks each time to come to that decision.
Now I’m happy to be denied the application if we don’t adhere to certain guidelines, if that was applied to all Apps on the market.
we are JammNation a platform that is working to help connect Fans and Artists. And allow artists to own their fan base. We are a very popular app and are a startup that puts our money where our mouth is. But supporting grass roots music. By sponsoring festivals and starting an artist fund. Check out our instagram and look at what we do for artists!
my issue with Spotify denying our request is that the bases you denied our request.
now Stas.fm do this and continue to do the above. And there are plenty of apps out there that are doing fan stats and analyzing data. How’s this App fairness. Shouldn’t we all have the guidelines applied to us evenly? If there is a commercial arrangement shouldn’t we all have an option to apply for this. Not only this stats.fm make money using API isn’t that against policy. At least we are a free app?
we are actually trying to improve the situation. For artists and fans. We are trying to promote that streaming is a positive thing for music but there is a better way for Artist to earn some money without having to hate on Spotify.
we are open for a commercial API agreement. Or any partnership. But to be denied again on those points when you approve other apps and let other apps do rankings, fan stats etc but they give nothing back to the community is mind blowing coming from a company that is a major part of the “coalition for app fairness”
again happy to be denied if the ruling is applied to all apps the make this process equitable and ethical.
So finally got rejected but it doesn't make sense. I use the audio analysis to turn it into sound waves and sell it as wall art. Based on the TOS is this not considered a non-streaming SDA and can be used for commercial use? The email stated:
After two months, I got my rejection. I fixed things up and went to resubmit and... am I seeing right that NOTHING was saved from the previous submission and I need to retype in everything again?
We just received our approval from Spotify my tip is to just wait it out and to carefully read the guidelines they give you. If you have any questions on how we got the approval after almost 6 months feel free to ask. we got one rejection, fixed the issue and got the approval.
You can use my application as an example on how an application should look to get approved just google "jamocracy"
Got my application rejected after 4 months. I needed to add a Spotify logo when the content is coming from their API (f.e tracks)
I fixed it and resubmitted it and got approved in 4 week this time !
You can search for “Beatbuddy cloud” on google to test it
your songs are amazing
Hello.
Our App name is :Razer Axon and we submitted the quota extension on 27th June. We understand that it's during in midsummer break which we need to expect more delay here.
This is a wallpaper software from our company (Razer - if you a gamer you should know it.). We are planning to vigorously promote music-related collaborations in Q3 with the Spotify feature on our important event: Razercon. So, it would be appreciated if you team can expedite timing on this request.
Open to discuss more cooperation with sales or marketing as well.
Look forward to hearing from you!
I can't seem to find the application you are speaking of on Google. You mind sharing the link?

Hi Nikola,
My request is in pending state since 2 and half month. I am not sure how much more time it will take as the contact support team suggest that it takes 6 weeks at max to review the request.
Can you please help me with the better way of getting this approved.
Thanks!!
