Hello!
I want to build a social media app where people can the songs they listen to with their friends. At the moment the user would have to copy the song link from spotify and then insert it into my app. Then i would load the spotify embed preview player. The preview player is embedded into a card where the username etc is displayed and this is the form other people can see the post.
Now my question: is this allowed? Is it allowed to use the embed preview player wihout authenticating the user with spotify oauth?
Solved! Go to Solution.
Okay. After reading through the terms myself now, I can tell you that your proposed social media app that uses Spotify embed preview players is generally allowed, and you would likely not need to authenticate the user with Spotify OAuth specifically for the embed preview player itself.
„People can **share** the songs“. Missing word in first sentence;)
Hi @Elias29
Thank you for posting in the Spotify Community, and Welcome!
I'm not sure about if it is allowed or not, so I recommend taking a look at the Widget Terms of Use.
Let me know if you need more clarification.
I already looked it up but I cant find anything related if a user must be authorized via spotify auth or not in order to post a embed player in my case
Hi @Elias29
If you're not authenticated, you'll always see a preview. If you are authenticated, some browsers may occasionally allow you to play the full song.
Its a mobile app.
Thats the thing, I only want to show the preview. Therefore I would like to skip the whole spotify user auth process because i dont really need it, depends if this is allowed or not

Ok thanks for your help 🙂
