Is in-app sonos integration going to be deprecated?

Is in-app sonos integration going to be deprecated?

Hello,

I install home automation systems like RTI and Savant along with doing whole home audio distribution in general.

One of the main selling points for some clients was that Savant (I'm sure other systems do/did too) allowed them to control everything from a single app (Light/music/pool/tv/etc.)

That being said, the Spotify integration within the Savant app was very strong! A number of months ago, the Spotify integration within Savant was deprecated because of the release of Spotify Connect. This really boiled quite a few of my clients. The audio distribution within Spotify to connect to Savant is very cumbersome and involves many clicks. PLUS, the client could no longer trigger a "scene" which would also kick off a playlist. If they wanted music, they would have to trigger the lightning scene from Savant and then switch over to Spotify to kick off a playlist.

I know for most people, a few extra clicks isn't a big deal but to some of these clients who pay $$$ to install these automation systems...it is a big deal.

So...now that I've said all that...my resolution was to integrate the Savant system with Sonos (very strong integration. works nicely.) Sonos is very integrated with Spotify. Now my clients are happy again because they can do everything from within  the Savant app again (pick a song, pick a playlist, make a queue, or trigger a playlist from a lighting keypad in a room. etc.)

HOWEVER... 😞  I heard that the in-app Sonos integration for Spotify is also going to be deprecated in the very near future and replaced by Spotify Connect.

Is this true? Does this mean that anyone who has a Sonos system is going to lose the ability to have Spotify integrated with the Spotify App? I have many clients who simply want to use Spotify, but from a different app..plain and simple.

Please let me know if this information is true...and if so, when will all API integrations with other brands like Sonos and others be deprecated.

Thanks

In short, I'm using Sonos as a proxy to be able to control Spotify from within the Savant App. This is why this integration is so important. Please note, I'm totally aware that Spotify as a company is going to focus on features and roadmaps that cater to the masses...which will use Spotify Connect without blinking and be happy. I fully support that effort.

I'm just saying that there are still a good number of people with deeper integrations using Spotify and I feel they should be considered to some extent if possible. Thanks
