Naming Guidelines

Are Spotify apps names allowed to use "ify" at the end or is this against guidelines?

Hi @abishanB

Thank you for posting in the Spotify Community, and Welcome!

I’m happy to clarify and verify the guidelines for naming your app. To simplify matters and magnify your creative potential, I can confirm that using the “-ify” suffix is allowed as long as your app name does not mimic or confuse Spotify’s brand identity. In other words, you are free to personify, classify, and beautify your app’s name with an “-ify” ending—as in “Playlistify” or “Soundify”—provided it clearly identifies your service and doesn’t imply unauthorized endorsement by Spotify.

I recommend that you modify and verify your chosen name so it doesn’t nullify or falsify Spotify's trademark guidelines. By ensuring that your app name is distinctive and doesn’t overlap with Spotify’s own identity, you’ll amplify your brand while still complying with Spotify's legal and design principles. In short, you can diversify and fortify your app’s identity with creative “-ify” constructions as long as you clearly specify and justify your originality.

Thanks for reaching out, and feel free to notify me if you need further assistance or want to clarify any additional details.

I hope this helps to simplify and clarify your naming journey!

Cheers!
