Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

You write:

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

Please Spotify, rethink about it!

I am a Swedish violin teacher in music school, and I use this app daily with my pupils. Thanks to the ability to change the tempo of spotify songs inside a playlist. I started the subscription to Spotify "Premium Family" (189,00 kr/month), mainly for this sake. I have also recomended my pupils to buy the Amazing Slow Downer app by Roni Music for 125 kr.

Now the only option I have, is to search for same songs on YouTube instead and use their low quality "play slowly" functionality.

Please change your mind and continue supporting harmless programs like this one. ( www.ronimusic.com )

This was a super sad move from Spotify. Amazing Slow Downer has been literally AMAZING, in everyday life of musicians, music lovers and people having a hobby of playing an instrument. As a professional singer and a vocal teacher, the fact that I've easily able to use Spotify with ASD, has been one of the reasons why I decided to return to Spotify after ending my subscription. Now I have to say I'm reconsidering this decision. What a shame that ASD doesn't work anymore linked with Spotify.

My Question or Issue

I have been using Amazing Slowdowner as a learning tool for my bass playing for a couple of years now. This app is one of the main reasons I have a premium Spotify account: it allows me to play songs in a tempo that enables me tofigure out what to play, to learn to play the song by playing it in the tempo I am able at that moment and tonchange pitch if the singer of our band is not able to sing a song in the original tone.

Amazing slowdowner already told you would not support their servives anyer AND YOU ACTUALLY STOPPED THE SUPPORT OF THIS AMAZING APP!

On behalf of loads of musicians, please enable their services. If not, I might consider stopping my premium account if another music starts supporting ASD.

Come on Spotify! This is ridiculous. I’m going to change streaming providers if this stops my ability to work with the Amazing Slowdowner.

This is a sad day. ASD has been probably my most used tool other than a Metronome for as long as I've been a musician. Probably the most used app on my phone other than Spotify. If ASD manages to integrate into literally any other app (other than apple as I have an android) ill be there in a heart beat. Spotify can get stuffed, what a needless restriction of so much functionality.

I am a music teacher, and using the Amazing Slow Downer with Spotify has helped to make working on individual song parts an effortless process. Removing support for the app is a move that is detrimental to instructors such as myself, as well as those looking to learn on their own. If spotify does not reconsider, I will likely be switching over to Apple Music, and spotify should expect this to happen many times over.

🥲Sad day for all music teachers using the ASD apps great functionality together with Spotify. Hope they will rethink, at least support apps that allows tempo and tone change, so useful when you play an instrument.

With the loss of this integration I’ve lost a big capability to learn vocal and guitar riffs through Spotify. Hope they’ll restore the amazing slow downer connection to Spotify!

Se nu till att fixa detta. Eller svara åtminstone  utvecklaren!

The Only, ONLY reason for me to continue with Spotify is the compatability with ASD app. Please reconsider supporting SDK.

Was sad to see this happen. I use ASD connected to Spotify to learn on guitar as well. Please restore this functionality.

John

I use ASD connected to my Spotify account to learn guitar and it has been a great tool. Please restore this functionality. Don't really want to move to Apple Music.

I’m going to go elsewhere for streaming music if Spotify doesn’t support amazing slow downer. Plan and simple.

Thanks for all the thoughtful feedback, everyone.

I have been reading each and every post in the thread here and learning a lot about how you were all using the Amazing Slow Downer app. We shared back in 2019 that developers should move away from using the mobile streaming SDKs but I know that this kind of change is never easy.

It is true that the new mobile SDKs aren’t geared to help apps slow down or alter music, we don't have a technical or legal solution that allows for the modification of content. I understand how disappointing this is for folks who use Amazing Slow Downer regularly and for you, @florom.

Ok. I guess I'll be cancelling my subscription.

Been using this app for years in music teaching with great results. Many have ordered Spotify Premium version because of the app. Please make it work again!

I am extremely compelled to switch to Apple Music after finding out this very disappointing news. I use the ASD everyday to transcribe my favorite artists and try to learn to play like my idols. Now I am unable to use this app and both Spotify and ADS has lots almost all it’s use for me. Spotify is amazingly slowing down my progression of music with this decision as well as thousands of others. Please reconsider in order to cater to fans that have supported the platform for years.

I am professional musician and I use this app everyday. This change will make things much more difficult and I have to switch service. Please restore it!

Spotify is how I prefer to stream music. I use the slow downer app/slow down feature almost daily with my students to practice songs. Please allow the slow downer app to continue to use Spotify for slow-down functionality. Thanks!
