Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

You write:

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

I am a professional musician and I use this tool every day. The fact that Spotify las limited access has severely affected my workflow. As if musicians needed another reason to boycot Spotify, this might be the cherry on the cake.

I've been a premium Spotify user for many years, and more recently a Premium Duo subscriber, but am now trialing Apple Music and will switch services if Spotify no longer supports Amazing Slow Downer.  As a jazz guitarist, ASD is an essential app which I use practically every day. Spotify, please support musicians and the music-making community – and don't lose potentially 1,000s of otherwise loyal subscribers.

Let us know if you find a substitute music source so I can change.
Agree with sentiments that this hurts musicians an Spotify doesn’t care !!
Thanks

I have been a loyal user of Spotify for quite some time. ASD allows me to learn songs on my guitar which is really convenient. It seems since apple allows it Spotify would want to remain competitive. Please reconsider not supporting ASD. Thank you.

This decision has been so much more disruptive than I even imagined.  I'm begging you Spotify, please change your mind!

Wow!! This is a shame! I really like Spotify but I’m really considering deleting my account. The Amazing Slow Downer app I definitely can not part with. It is by far the most useful app for musicians. I hope Spotify reconsiders their decision to do this.

Spotifys decision to limit the apps use with amazing slow downer has reduced the value of my Spotify subscription to basically nothing, highly doubt I’ll continue to use Spotify unless they decide to reverse this decision.

It's a big shame that slow down streaming not work anymore with Spotify. I'm  ready to change my streaming service as soon as I find new way to slow down my music stream. I've been using Spotify for long time but not anymore happy anymore using it.

I am a guitar teacher in Germany and I use Amazing Slowdowner with my students. They mostly have Spotify and for me and my students it is very sad, that Spotify does no lomnger support Amazing Slowdowner. Please, Spotify, allow that again.

Please fix it, there is no reason to stay on Spotify as an iPhone user if there is no SDK support. The only reason I have Spotify is because of the in-depth equalizer applications that exist. If I have to use the garbage equalizer that’s prebuilt, I’ll just use Apple Music. Either allow SDKs, OVERHAUL the equalizer or deal with an upset community that would happily switch over! Very disappointing.

Thanks, mother**bleep**ers @ Spotify for disabling my SpotEQ application!

I was using this service to have a better, and more profound musical experience! I know we are using Spotify to profit off of other artists content! But doesn’t allow customers to hear their music, however, and by whatever means they choose to do so! I mean I am paying Spotify $9.99 a month . . : i’d be willing to spend maybe $20 just to have the possibility of upgrading the sound to a lossless audio or better quality . . . Plus I can control the range however level / frequency I want it to sound, to create a more joyful experience! This App I purchased on iTunes/iOS platform about three years ago. It’s been an indispensable part of my life! Now the greedy profiting off other Musicians platform named Spotify want me to instead settle for mediocrity and low quality sound.!!?!

Why. ?

Because they don’t want others to have the freedom to decide how they want their music to sound.!!!

  1. I Will probably leave Spotify after this
  2. cant use asd amazing slow downer

Please change this back. It is incredibly helpful for my productions as well as practicing for covers. Thank you.

I’m a musician who plays in various bands. Part of the problem for me is getting everyone to subscribe to and use the same music streaming service. I’ve spent time convincing fellow musicians that they should choose Spotify so that we as a band can work from a common music service, so that we can share playlists in order to be sure we are all working on the same versions of songs we are covering. With that out the window, I’m now left with convincing them to move over to Apple Music which I am not a fan of because of its limited SDK functionality, among other things.

There’s a lot a time that goes into developing these playlists for my various bands. It’s quite tedious having to remake these in another company’s app.

As a jazz piano player, I have benefited tremendously from the SDK that allows the Amazing Slow Downer to work.  Please do not remove that SDK!!

Add my name to the mix. This still has no r been resolved, so Apple Music is looking like a viable option.

The show down functionality is very useful for learning music. Please reconsider!

Perfect I’m starting Apple Music newly last week

Please continue to support Amazing Slow Downer - I am sure you can figure out how keep your control over the SPOTIFY music in the Amazing Slow Downer app.  Almost, everyday I use the Amazing Slow Downer.  I’m looking for other options to have access to an app which retains the pitch at a slow bpm and learning loop features.

I've used Amazing Slow Downer for about three years now and it has enhanced my playing on my instrument by orders of magnitude. I just started learning a new instrument when Spotify stopped being compatible with Amazing Slow Downer and I am so disappointed-- it would have made all the difference to my learning to be able to pick apart recordings of skilled players.

If Spotify doesn't support Amazing Slow Downer I will switch streaming services.

Please support the very musicians that create the content you are making gravy on!
