Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

You write:

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

I also concur with this post. I am a long-time Spotify premium member (10+ years) and also utilize the app Amazing Slow Downer to learn arrangements as I am a working musician. Having my Spotify account integrated with ASD has helped me advance in my career tremendously and it would be very unfortunate to lose this feature with ASD.

I would strongly consider switching to another streaming service that is integrated with the ASD app if Spotify was no longer an option.

Without a doubt one of the biggest factor for me in improving my saxophone studies is being able to access all available songs on Spotify through the ASD app. The same goes for many of my fellow students at my school in Reykjavík, Iceland.

If Spotify stops apps like ADS from working it will influence the studies of many musical students like myself.

Please reconsider this and continue supporting apps like ADS.

They are not listening to us.  Crickets is all I have heard back from them.  How sad.  You can't export from ASD so why would they care about this?  I can't figure it out.

This is a very important app for me to learn new music as an amateur bass guitars. Please continue to support the app

This is an essential aspect of music for me, as a musician. I've been playing for 20 years, and without Amazing Slow Downer I would not be the musician I am today. I've been using the app since ~2005, before the streaming era, and it was amazing to be able to take this forward with me into the brave new world Spotify helped to pioneer.

If Spotify (and by extension Apple, Tidal, etc) go down this path of no longer supporting crucial apps like ASD, a few things are likely to happen.

1) I - and users like me - will cease using Spotify for our music. New music musicians listen to is often music we want to learn, and so Spotify will no longer have value. As such, we will either leave Spotify for other streaming platforms, or worse, go back to non-streaming options.

2) As 'Canaries-in-the-coal-mine' we will no longer be recommending Spotify to our friends and networks, who often look to power users for guidance on which apps to use and how to get music.

3) Over time, we may even no longer aim to work with Spotify preferentially for new music releases, which would be a further drag on Spotify in particular and (potentially) the streaming industry writ large.

This change of course also affects the DJ community.

I urge you to reconsider this course of action. Thank you,

A loyal Spotify customer since 2010.

I'm a professional musician, I've been taking advantage of this interconnectivity for years, and this decision to switch is actually going to really mess up my workflows. I will definitely be looking for another music streaming software that supports Amazing Slow Downer, and was really upset to learn that the functionality won't continue.  Please reconsider, mostly I'm just dreading the amount of work it will take to set up my workflows in another system.

Please keep Spotify compatible with the Amazing Slow Downer App!

Will be forced to jump ship on Spotify. Really hurts the music community. Please reconsider.
pretty please!?

PLEASE, do not interrupt the compatibility of Spotify with Amazing Slow Downer (ASD)!
I switched from another app platform to use ASD because Spotify became compatible with it.

As a bass guitar playing musician, this is a very important tool for development. I hope that the two companies can reconcile the differences. After all the years of using Spotify and all the playlists I have built, it is going to be **bleep** rebuilding all of that on another platform by canceling Spotify and finding another service that is compatible with ASD.

I'm practicing my harmonica and ASD is a very helpful tool so please reconsider and keep  it working.

Hi!

I’m a frequent user of the Amazing Slow Downer application. This app allows music to be played back slower/faster and in a different pitch than the original, without loss of audio quality.

These features are extremely helpful for learning, practicing and teaching music.

It is a fantastic tool to use in my work as both a professional music teacher and practicing musician.
I’m using this app since more than 8 years now and have become highly dependent on it. Please reconsider keeping this SDK and keep ASD working!

Please reconsider keeping the SDK’s and keep ASD working as it should.

For me it’s the main reason to choose Spotify as my music streaming platform.

I am also a user of the ASD app on IOS. It was the main reason for me to subscribe to Spotify Premium. I have used it for teaching and also my students have bought Spotify because it works very well with Amazing Slowdowner. Now I think we have to switch Spotify to Apple Music.

I use the Amazing Slow Downer app daily, sometimes several times a day. I am learning several songs per day, rehearsing you name it. This app is an absolute must for me, please reconsider your decision. Please don’t force me to cancel my Spotify account and signup with the competition.

When Amazing Slow Downer (ASD) can no longer work with spotify, I won't be stopping use of ASD, I will be finding a music source that ASD can work with .  I am surprised that having users looking for alternate sources is what spotify wants.  But it is what will happen.

I subscribe this app and sporify for playing guitar.  When spotify set disable to use this app, I must change the app from spotify to youtube premium. But the price of youtube is higher than spotify.  So I really want to use spotify.  Please use me spotify!

I am very surprised and disappointed that I won't be able to link my spotify to the Amazing Slow Down app which I use to transcribe and learn tunes on. I will definitely reconsider my full Spotify membership if this occurs!

Spotify has been wonderful, please don’t start limiting its accessibility with apps like the Amazing Slowdowner. That would take Spotify backwards and other platforms WILL take its place. Not a good long range solution for Spotify.

I am also a user of this app, it's amazing to hear the song. its speed to play songs very fast and convert songs into audio voice. this is amazing so I appreciate this. thank you. it was the main reason for me to subscribe to the Spotify premium.

I am also a user of this app, it gives fast speed to play the songs. I feel very happy to install this. thank you. it was the main reason for me to subscribe Spotify premium.
