Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs

We have been using those SDKs since they became available.

Our particular app (Amazing Slow Downer) lets the user play music more slowly, since a couple of years ago also songs from Spotify. The "ios-streaming-sdk" is a beautifully designed framework that lets an audio developer do practically everything needed.
In our case it makes it possible to access the raw audio samples and this way process the sound and then playback the processed audio using our regular audio playback engine. With your new SDK this is not possible. It might be that the "ios-streaming-sdk" is more difficult to use for an average developer but that also makes it more powerful.

We have many users that uses Spotify. Many users switch from other streaming services such as "Apple Music", Tidal, Amazon Music etc to Spotify just to be able to slow down streaming music in real time.

We believe our app gives Spotify many many new subscribers, so many that it would actually pay off for Spotify to maintain the "ios-streaming-sdk".

We only use "playlist" functions and after fixing a couple of bugs in the "metadata framework" available on github, everything works 100%. Although there are certainly some bugs in the “ios-streaming-sdk”, they are very few and don’t affect our app.

We also have an Android version of our app that uses your Android streaming SDK and it also works very good.

We believe Spotify will loose thousands of users, so many that the minimal cost Spotify need to spend on maintenance will pay off manifold.

Since our app also supports playback and slowing down of streaming Apple Music, many of our users will probably switch from subscribing to Spotify to subscribing to Apple Music.

You write:

"After September 1st, important functionality in the streaming SDKs will stop working."
Exactly what does that mean? What part of the SDK will continue to work?

Please continue supporting iOS/Android streaming SDKs!

Please keep ASD working! My students and I use Spotify and a must-have-tool is the Amazing Slow Downer to practice new songs on the instrument.

I’m a long time user of both the Amazing Slowdowner and Spotify and I’m outraged at Spotify for doing this.  Spotify isn’t cheap and one of the reasons I keep it is the ability to use the slow downer app to learn songs on my guitar.  Should this change go into effect I may have to reconsider whether or not I want to keep using Spotify as I’m sure many others who feel the same way will also do.   Leave it alone.  It’s a great benefit to musicians and after all isn’t that what Spotify is all about.

Eric

ASD is an amazing app that helps me progress as a musician. I hope the people at Spotify  wil change their minds about this as I’m pretty sure there are thousands of musicians world wide using ASD.

If Spotify removes this compatibility I'll be forced to switch back to Apple music. Please don't do this, its a very netflix-like thing to do

Why such silence from Spotify? With all the activity in this thread and the other, they could have at least commented by now (either: “thanks for the feedback, but we’re sticking with our initial decision,” or “thanks for your feedback, we are reconsidering”), but nothing. Do they just want another month’s profit off us come September 1st billing, only to have us all leave on the 1st when we notice we’ve lost the feature in ASD? Their lack of a courtesy of a mild response to our shared requests is making me think seriously about moving back to Apple’s service before the 1st, regardless of their decision. Has anyone read or heard any response from Spotify?

This is the only reason I use Spotify.  Please reconsider

I’ve heard nothing and have wondered if there would be a response. Surely they’ve noticed the popularity of the ASD threads.

No, no response. I’ve already cancelled and have a horrid taste in my mouth
left over from over a decade of Spotify use. I’m plenty disgusted by their
lack of commitment to their users here.

I use the app as well and frankly the only reason I subscribed to spotify as opposed to deezer/other platforms is because spotify supported the functionality provided by the app. It is really helpful for musicians practising their instruments .

Please reconsider your decision to revoke support by Amazing slow downer.

Yes Spotify... loads of musicians (your product) use this app. It's brilliant and it helps us to do what we do. Come one, don't spoil the party. Keep the faith in what we do. Thank you!

Terminated my Spotify subscription today.

Dropping support for the SDK is disappointing. However, the lack of a response from Spotify on this entire thread is shameful.

As a user of Amazing Slowdowner I concur in full. Deactivating this functionality takes away a lot of freedom in learning to play along to music. Slowing down music an changing the pitch is a vital part in my practice. Having this feature no more will hinder my progress on learning new music pieces. Moreover I lose one major point why I keep on subscribing to spotify.

Please reconsider your decision and keep streaming with slowdown and pitch changing capabilities in operation.

I simply LOVE the combo of Spotify together with the Amazing Slow Downer app. Such a powerful, helpful and fun thingy to use! PLEASE, keep it possible also inna da future!

This function is the reason I pay for Premium account so that I can use it on iPad when practicing. Please reconsider this!

Dear Spotify
Amazing Slow Downer is one of the  Third Party Apps that allows students of Music to slow down a track and play along with their Instrument.
We have to be Premium Members

It is a fantastic teaching tool as the pitch of the tunes are not affected and is used by students all over the World
Please reconsider your  decision to disable this facility.

Amazing Slow Downer combined with Spotify was fulfill of my deepest dreams. Learning songs to play was so easy and pleasure with them. Now I can only have hope that Spotify change they decision.

Only reason Im still using Spotify instead of Tidal  is because of Amazing slowdowner.  If they stop the support I now have no reason to continue using Spotify. Tidal is just bettet in every other way.

Please continue to allow integration with Amazing Slow Downer - I am in a coverband and earn a living from learning and playing music live.  I use Amazing Slow Downer and its integration to Spotify daily. If this integration were to go away, it would impact me tremendously as this is the only product + integration on the market that allows slowing down streaming music. I also teach music and tell my clients about his method of using Amazing Slow Downer + Spotify - which often brings new customers to Spotify.

I use the Android version of the Amazing Slow Downer. As a musician and student of several instruments, this is an absolutely invaluable tool for me to enjoy the Spotify account. *PLEASE* keep this this functionality active for the Amazing Slow Downer app!! The ability to slow down, transpose, and loop sections of Spotify tracks is absolutely essential to my Spotify account experience. Please don't take this away! I like using Spotify, but I will be forced to switch to another service if this functionality is taken away.

I am a long-time premium subscriber to Spotify and I use it and the Amazing Slow Downer App on the iPhone to help me learn songs on guitar. Without the support for ASD, I will look for another streaming app for my music.

I would like Spotify to retain the functionality that allows ASD to work so well with Spotify music.
