Removing User Access to Application

Removing User Access to Application

I am developing a programing integrating the Spotify web API in a school project. After reading the guidelines provided by Spotify it has become evident that there needs to be an easy way for the user to opt out of using the application, removing our access to their data etc.

I have been unable to find any information as to exactly what this entails and how this is achieved. Is it enough to simply remove any information that is stored for the specific user, along with any tokens or other keys that gives access to said information?
Or do they also need to be removed from the Spotify application I have made, if yes, how exactly is this done, outside of them manually entering their settings > permissions etc.?
It there a way for a developer so remove a user's access to their application?

I am specifically looking for a programmatic way of achieving this, so that it might be automated, instead of being done manually.
