Spotify in Home Automation

Spotify in Home Automation

Recent API changes have made it impossible for Home Assistant users to automate Spotify playback. This breaks smart home workflows and has removed functionality that worked for years. Please consider restoring the ability to start playback on known Connect devices, or provide a stable integration path for smart home platforms. The Spotify integration is poorly maintained and provides limited (if any functionality). At the very least allow proper access to APIs so good applications like SpotCast can work properly.

Check out the [SpotifyPlus Integration](https://community.home-assistant.io/t/spotifyplus-integration/698651); it can do everything that the HA Spotify integration can do, supports Spotify Connect enabled devices (Bose, Sonos, Chromecast, Amazon Alexa, Denon, JBL, and more), and provides 95+ custom services that can be used in HA automations and scripts.

There is also a [SpotifyPlus Card](https://community.home-assistant.io/t/spotifyplus-card-dashboard/795290) user-interface that allows you to control the player, manage your Spotify favorites, as well as search the Spotify catalog. You have to install the SpotifyPlus integration first though, and get it configured before you can use the SpotifyPlus Card.

Both are easily installed via HACS.
