We are working on a group project that uses spotify embeds and the embeds are giving us upstream connection errors and not loading. I'm not sure how to fix this error or if this is related to an outage of some kind or not. We are kind of dependent on the embeds for our project, so just felt like reaching out for help.
Same problem here in Germany. Support Chat said it is a technical developer problem. Anyone knows when this will be fixed? Or is there a workaround?
The embedded service is down on my website and a lot of errors are going on.
Is there any way to know how long will it last? Should I do anything?
Thank you!
Same issue here in South Africa. Both on Wordpress.com sites and self-hosted non-Wordpress websites
Seems to be working again! This a screenshot of https://iplaylists.wordpress.com at 12:00 (South African Time) on 3 August 2025

Yes, looks like Spotify fixed the issue – all my embedded players are working again on my site. Fingers crossed it stays that way!
Also working here again, since 2025-08-03 08:36:05 UTC. Went up and down multiple times before, but running stable now. Seems like they resolved it.
but one issue is if you have spotify loged in on your browser then only you see the preview else you just see a message the page you are trying to find is not available.
Hello folks,
I am an engineer working on the Spotify embed player, and wanted to give you all a quick update about this issue. While the issue is fixed now, the cause for this was a change that we introduced to Spotify's embed player that was meant to improve the code quality, and inadvertently introduced a performance issue on the server, which caused it to become slow and eventually stop working (the irony of it all is not lost on us). The issue also caused disruptions in a few other services and pinpointing the root cause took some time but as soon as the issue was identified we were able to fix it and have added measures to prevent this from happening again. I would like to apologise of the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and hope that you will continue using the embed player to bring the Spotify experience to your platforms.
Cheers!
it is working again, but the compact embed has some issues:
for artists and playlist it only shows the first letters of the first song
but if you make 153px (1 more of the default) it will render correctly

Thanks for reporting this martinmor. We have fixed this, and the compact mode show the track list correctly now.
So I run a music blog where I review singles: albums. I like to embed Spotify links, but on the posts I’ve already made all I get is Upstream Request Timeout. Is this temporary
@sushantsudarshan The embed went down again, about 9 hours ago. Same behaviour as the last time this was reported, the error being
upstream request timeout
Could this be looked into please? Thank you!
Same problem as before. On Wordpress.com sites as well as on non-Wordpress sites.
I have the same problem. Yesterday it was working fine, and today nothing.

Thanks.
Same Error for 3 embedded Playlists on an contao-website - any solutions besides just waiting?
