When adding or updating playlist details, only works half the time

When adding or updating playlist details, only works half the time

Whats up all --

I have a web app that uses both the "CreatePlaylist" + "Change Playlist Details" Web API calls.

For the CreatePlaylist call, I always pass name and description. I noticed that half of the time the playlists have no description after being created. I decided to try and just do a double call here using Change Playlist Details right after, but that seems to still also have the same problem.

Looking for some help here as descriptions for playlist are a part of my app that I really would like.

Thanks in advance!

Paw-some to see you adilanchian!

It sounds like you're experiencing some issues with the "CreatePlaylist" and "Change Playlist Details" Web API calls, specifically with the playlist description not being updated or appearing correctly. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:

  1. Check the API documentation: Make sure you're using the correct parameters and syntax for the API calls. Double-check that you're passing the correct data types and that the data is formatted correctly. Also, check if there are any restrictions or limitations on playlist descriptions that you may not be aware of.

  2. Test the API calls individually: Try making the API calls separately to see if one of them is causing the issue. For example, create a new playlist using the "CreatePlaylist" API call and check if the playlist description is added correctly. Then, update the playlist details using the "Change Playlist Details" API call and see if the description updates correctly.

  3. Check the response data: After making the API calls, check the response data for any error messages or unexpected behavior. Make sure you're handling the response data correctly in your web app.

  4. Check for rate limits: Some APIs have rate limits that restrict the number of calls that can be made within a certain period of time. Make sure you're not exceeding any rate limits, as this could cause issues with your API calls.

  5. Contact Spotify support: If you're still experiencing issues, you can reach out to Spotify support for further assistance. They may be able to provide more insight into the issue or help troubleshoot the problem.

Don't leave me in the doghouse, keep me informed!

Prague the Dog -- what an epic response haha ty

Couple notes here:
1. Check API docs, good to go there
2. Testing the calls individually and then together as individually wasn't giving the proper results

3. All response data comes back as expected, just missing metadata in UI/web portals + API calls
4. Rate limits should be fine rn, nothing out of the ordinary there
5. How does one reach out to Spotify support? Can we tag them in these threads?

Thanks for the thoughts!

Sounds like things are as they should on your end… To contact support hit the bottom of the page for the support link!

Hmmm will do ty!

Spotify dev support comes through here sometimes right? Support link seems very much for consumer facing. Will keep digging b

Rarely if ever, this is regularly just a community or forum for Spotify. You’ll see a moderator floating around now and then but I have yet to see a dev in my daily sign ins for the past month. Me too, I’ll get you in on the conversation if I find relevant topics.

Thx for chatting dood,
