utm_source parameter in spotify shared link

My Question or Issue

Hi everyone,
I'm working in a project in which we have a custom cms and a frontend app. We are implementing a feature that allows our content creators to add embeded spotify podcasts from the cms to the frontend. I noticed that the spotify "share episode" links have this "utm_source" parameter in them. Is this a required / mandatory param that we must use or can we leave it out? I'm asking because I am not familiar with this url parameter and we are doing some url parsing in our cms to the shared links, so I'm wondering whether I can leave it out or do I make a help function to handle the parameter correctly?
