April 2024: Price increase: I cannot find the new Premium Basic Tier?

April 2024: Price increase: I cannot find the new Premium Basic Tier?

Hi,

I've received an email to say my Premium subscriptiion is increasing again from £10.99 to £11.99. I am in the UK.

I've read on multiple news outlets a new Basic tier is possibly launching that will be the previous price without Audiobooks. Is this right?

As Spotify still hasn't launched it's Lossless audio service I signed up to Tidal recenty, which ironcally has recently halved its subscription price. I am therefore not using Spotify much and the second price in less than a year is gauling. I'm not interested in Audiobooks.

Is this new Basic tier really launching? And if so when?

See the news articles here:

Hey @bradavon, thanks for reaching out to the Community!

I do not have any information as to the types of subscription changes that happen ahead of time. Any communication regarding price changes, or subscription tier changes will be communicated to you via email. You can also check out the Spotify Newsroom here, where you can find up-to-date news and information related to Spotify services.

There is also more information regarding price changes here

I hope this helps!

Those news articles do only say Spotify is "considering it".

Personally I was okay with the previous price hike but to increase prices again in less than 12 months doesn't feel right, especially as Spotify still hasn't launched it's Lossless audio service. Now only YouTube Music and Spotify only offer low quality Lossy music. The jump in quality on Tidal is stark.

I'm considering moving to Spotify Free now, which is a strange place to be as I've been a Spotify Premium subscriber since back when Spotify offered a Daily Tier. £1 for one day of Spotify Premium.

I do like the Discover Weekly playlist and the Smart Playlist feature though, but I'm prettty sure both are still accesible on Spotify Free (but stuck in Shuffle Mode on the Mobile Apps).
